Dear Michigan Alpha Brother:
I hope you had a healthy, prosperous and enjoyable summer. I am pleased to report that Michigan Alpha's summer was very productive as we accomplish several key maintenance projects at the chapter house. With your help, we're going to keep the strong momentum going this fall and into 2010.
On behalf of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, I invite you to visit Michigan Alpha's Homecoming Open House prior to the Michigan vs Indiana football game this weekend. We have a brief formal program that will start at 9 a.m. and light breakfast refreshments will be available until 10:30 a.m.
As always on football Saturdays, alums are welcome to view the house while it is open (it is locked during the football game) and park their vehicles on the front lawn for the afternoon.
The highlight of our Homecoming Open House will be the dedication of the new North Porch and recognition of the five donors who made this long-planned renovation a reality with collective contributions totaling $12,750 for this special project.
Once again, thank you Dick Young '51, John Buck '54, Doug Roby '56, Bob Leland '58 and Bernie Rinella '58 for your generous gifts to the chapter house.
In addition, our program will feature the chapter receiving an award from the
Ann Arbor Campus Community Coalition for our leadership with within U of M Greek System on maintaining an alcohol-free chapter house.
Although we are separated by distance, remember that Phi Delta Theta is a fraternity for life. The Board of Directors and I are very proud of our active chapter members and alums who uphold Phi Delta Theta's tradition of excellence as we begin our 124th fall on campus.
Even if you cannot make it back to Ann Arbor to visit, I encourage you to show your support and loyalty to the fraternity by making a donation to the
2009-2010 Annual Fund. Alumni donations are the main source of funding for major renovations and improvements to our
106 year old chapter house.
Thanks to your support, Michigan Alpha's historic home at 1437 Washtenaw is in excellent structural condition (but always needs more maintenance) and provides a new generation of Phis with a comfortable and safe living environment.
Yours in the Bond,
JT (Tom) Buck '77
President
