A Fall for Art
|
Dear (Contact First Name), Hello October! It's mid-season and with that, Mother Nature paints her own palette of rich autumnal colors spicing up the landscape that we call home in the Northeast. This Fall marks my fourth year in business as The Art Marketer, a time for reflecting back and looking forward to where this venture has taken me and those I've been fortunate enough to encounter along the way. It has been and continues to be a wonderful journey I am grateful to have made. With yet another move behind me, I am now in a new space that reflects more closely who I am and how I want to be representing those who are joining me in this ride. Still calling the Hamptons my Home, I recently moved into a beautifully restored Historic House in the lovely old Whaling Town of Sag Harbor, NY. Here I am creating a combination living, office, gallery space that best reflects my life, the clients I serve and the projects I undertake. Following are just a few of those endeavors currently underway: LFFA - The new space takes on a new name, LFFA, Lisa Freedman Fine Arts, and this will be the name I use to represent fine artists through my gallery, advertisements and art fairs. The Art Marketer will continue to be a platform for marketing and promoting many of my other promotional services, marketing strategies, products and commercially-oriented clients. JULIO SUSANA - Latin American Artist, Julio Susana has been working with me since I first met him at an Art Show he did last Fall, and again at the Red Dot Miami Show last December. I first introduced you to Julio through my blog and it gives me great pleasure to be introducing his work now through my newsletter. Julio's work will be the inaugural exhibition in my new Sag Harbor space. I am honored to have 7 of Julio's masterpieces grace the walls of my Atelier. Julio will also have a solo booth with me at ArteAmerica in March, the premiere Latin American Art Fair. THE ARTIST SHOWCASE - Newly launched to fill a void in the market, The Artist Showcase is a high-end, high-gloss Art Publication designed to bring undiscovered, unrepresented, emerging and mid-career artists together with galleries and active art collectors in each of the most art-centric buying cities of the world. The Artist Showcase debuts with a Winter 2011 Edition coming out in time for Miami Arts Week this December. The Art Marketer is proud to be the editor in this exciting venture. More information on each of the above-mentioned ventures is detailed below. Sign-up to receive future newsletters detailing the works for other equally exciting artists I now represent. We thank-you for your continued interest and wish you the best of the Harvest Season. Artfully, Lisa Freedman The Art Marketer |
 | Musicians in the Night by Julio Susana |
The first artist that I have the pleasure of showcasing in my new Atelier is Julio Susana, an accomplished Latin American Artist that has achieved widespread international acclaim. His work is best described by John Austin in my blog. His life story is as colorful as his paintings and is summarized below as well as in the featured artist section of LFFA.
For more information, or a private viewing of his works, please contact us. JULIO SUSANA
The Internationally acclaimed artist, sculptor and professor, Julio Susana, was born in La Vega Real, Dominican Republic in 1937. He studied at the Academia de Bellas Artes (Academy of Fine Arts) in Santo Domingo, where he won two awards in painting and sculpture. His artistic talents then earned him a scholarship to Spain's renowned Instituto de Cultura Hispánica de Madrid (Institute of Hispanic Culture of Madrid). Upon graduation, Julio hosted an exhibition of his work, which was widely praised by critics.
Early Achievements
Susana's first professional exhibition was held at Instituto Benefactor (Charitable Institute) in 1959. That same year, he hosted his second exhibition at Instituto Cultural Dominico Americano (Dominican-American Cultural Institute). Four years later, he was honored as the painter of the year at the 11th Biennial Exhibition held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and was commissioned to exhibit his work at the Puerto Rico Bar Association. Then in 1963, Julio took his talents to the classroom, becoming an art professor at Academia de Bellas Artes (Academy of Fine Arts) in San Francisco de Macoris. In 1965, the government named Julio Susana as Director of the School of Fine Arts at Academia de Bellas Artes (Academy of Fine Arts) in La Vega Real.
International Recognition
A year later, Susana opened his own gallery in Santo Domingo, while participating in 12 individual and eight collective exhibitions at various locales in Santiago and La Vega, and also the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts). The artist moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1967. In 1969, he participated in several exhibitions with Latin American painters, and in another exhibition with 27 painters at the Miami Beach Library. Soon after, he relocated to New York, where he lived for 17 years. While in NY, he exhibited at the Cultural Dominican Institute in Greenwich Village, the International Gallery at the Bronx Museum and the Ponce Bank in Queens.

Susana founded the Academy of Arts at New York City's American Museum of Natural History in 1974. That same year, he also exhibited his paintings and original songs about world peace at the United Nations, which honored him with the 40th Anniversary Peace Medal. That same year he exhibited "Colores de mi Tierra" at the Secretaria de Estado de Cultura in Santo Domingo. More Recent Years More recent years have seen Julio as the solo exhibit at the Denise Roberge Gallery in Palm Desert California (2008).
