Greetings!

I'd like to welcome our new 1st year students that will be joining us this year as well as welcome back our returning students! I hope you've all had a great summer and are excited to get back into the swing of things!

I'd also like to welcome Akemi, one of our DC teachers to the Academy, as she'll be teaching with Felix on Sundays and Leticia Taylor, another one of our DC teachers who will be replacing myself at the front desk as I step into Chris Gasti's shoes as the new DCA Director.  I'd personally like to thank Chris, our former DCA Director for all his hard work, energy, and commitment to DCA.  Even though he has decided to step down from his director position of DCA he is still a very active part of Dancing Classrooms as he continues his roll as the Educational Liaision for our teaching artists and our schools.

I look forward to working with you all this year!

See you on the dance floor!

What is DCA?
Dancing Classrooms Academy, (DCA) is not just a ballroom school.  It's an extension of Dancing Classrooms, the 10 week program students participate in during the school day in their respective schools AND the pre requisite for getting into the ACADEMY.

Dancing Classrooms is a social development program whose mission is to build social awareness, confidence, and self-esteem. For a more indepth understanding of our program please click here:

History of Dancing Classrooms

After students complete the program in their school they are eligible to come to the Academy.   Due to our space constraints, availability of staff, and funds available, the Academy does put a cap on how many students are allowed to register.  There are times we have to turn away students because we can't accommodate them.

That said it's very important students commitement to the entire year from Sept-June because we can not accept new registrants once classes have started.  We realize this is a special committment for all our families especially those that travel quite a distance to our Herald Square studio and we appreciate that you have chosen to make us a part of your life on the weekends!  However, students that miss more than 3 classes a term run the risk of being removed from the program for the year and will have to reapply the following year with no guarantee of reentry.

Payments

-Fees for FIRST year students: $120 (Sept-June)

*If you have not paid in full for your classes the remaining balance is due the first day of class.

-Fees for all RETURNING students (2nd year - 5th years): $200 (Sept-June)

*If you have not already paid in full for you classes a 2nd balance will be due the first day of class.

*The FINAL balance will be due in January.

**Students can be removed from the program if payments are not made in a timely fashion.**

Attendance Policy

Parents please notify us via email/phone if your child cannot attend class.  Students that miss more than 3 classes a term (Terms: FALL-12 weeks, WINTER-10 weeks, SPRING-9 weeks) run the risk of being removed from the program for the year and will have to reapply the following year with no guarantee of reentry.   Students that want to change their class day and/or time due to scheduling conflicts must fill out a Change of Schedule Form and get approval from DCA staff in order to change the class. No changes will take place the first several weeks of the Term.

Returning Students and UnPaid Spring Balances

Students who did not pay for the Spring Term 2012 will not be allowed back in class this year 2012-13 until the payment is made. Payments must be made in September or students will be unable to register this year.

Thank you kindly
