Police Department Initiates "Operation Yuletide" |
City police and local church work together to spread Christmas cheer

The Greensboro Police Department is launching "Operation Yuletide," an initiative to bring holiday cheer to 50 or more under-served youth and senior citizens in the city. In partnership with Christ Wesleyan Church, the vision of this inaugural program is to provide each family with a ham and nonperishable foods for a traditional holiday meal, along with gifts consisting of new toys and clothing.
Police officers and department employees have unique insight into the circumstances of some of the city's residents, and are nominating families based on their personal knowledge of the families' needs. Greensboro Police and Christ Wesleyan Church are asking for the public's support with donations of new toys, non-perishable food items, new clothing, gift wrap, and money. Donations are accepted at these locations:
- Kitchen Operations Center at 2602 South Elm-Eugene St.
- Police Department administrative office at 300 West Washington St.
- Eastern Police Division at 1106 Maple St.
- Western Police Division at 300 South Swing Road
- Public Safety Training Facility at 1510 North Church St.
Monetary donations must be sent directly to Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 S. Holden Rd., Greensboro, NC, 27407. Please indicate in the memo section of the check "Operation Yuletide." The church will provide receipts for cash donations, which are tax-deductible, and 100 percent of the donations go toward Operation Yuletide. Police Department staff and volunteers will organize the donations and deliver food and gifts to the families. For more information, contact Lt. Pam Rogers at 433-7328. |
