 City Council Action Wrap-Up
Employees weigh in on what it's like to work for the City.

At its meeting on Tuesday, April 21, City Council received the results of the state Employee Security Commission survey of City employees and their views on what it's like to work for the City of Greensboro. The survey was requested by Council earlier this year.

Employees were asked to rate the City based on 10 work-life categories: supervisory, management, City Council, employee relations, commitment to the City of Greensboro, pay/employee benefits, work group, job satisfaction, training and performance appraisal.

The survey results will be analyzed by City staff and next steps will be developed.

Council also:
  • Cancelled the Council Briefing schedule for Tuesday, April 28. View Council's 2009 Meeting Schedule.
  • Recognized outstanding student athletes from N.C. A&T State University and Dudley High School.
  • Voted to annex two subdivisions in McLeansville into the city limits.
  • Noted that a rezoning request for a residential multi-family development along Pilgrims Church Road was withdrawn by the developer.

Keep Your Property within Code
Learn City ordinances to prevent your property from being in violation.

Did you know it was against the City's local ordinances to let your grass grow more than 12 inches high? To have too many tree limbs and too much brush in your yard? To keep inoperable or improperly tagged vehicles on your property? Or to have basketball goals too close to the curbs?

The City's Local Ordinance Enforcement Office makes sure private property owners adhere to guidelines on issues such as these, which are often called "nuisance cases." If violations occur, the City posts a notice on the property involved and notifies the owner to correct the situation within a certain number of days. If the problem isn't resolved, the City handles the situation and then bills the property owner for the work.

Make sure you know the regulations. Call 373-2111 to learn more or to report possible ordinance violations. You may also submit a complaint form online.
