Consultant's Corner
| The IFS Shipment Solution
Do you work in repetitive manufacturing or in medical, automotive, or a high-tech industry? Do you have the need to process orders more efficiently? If you do then you may be interested in how you can process hundreds or even thousands of orders to deliver at one time. With IFS Applications7 you can do just that by using the Shipment Solution that is new to Apps7 Users. If you have a large number of orders going to one customer, the Shipment module allows you to pick and report all your orders at once. Prior to Apps7 you needed an expensive modification to do this. For all of the companies out there on previous versions of IFS, this one change in may be able to provide enough ROI to justify the upgrade all by itself. In this month's Consultant's corner, Jon Elsom discusses the IFS Shipment Solution and how it can impact your business in a big way.

Greetings! The Forecast: Your Business Barometrics With a Touch First it was the iPhone from AT&T, next the Instinct from Sprint, and now last week the all new Blackberry Storm from Verizon! These powerful, easy to navigate touch screen mobile phone and PDAs are sweeping the country by storm (Great marketing, Verizon!). The dazzling user interface, 3G network speeds, awesome processor power, and hard-to-fathom memory capacities are an application developer's dream and the stimulus for great end user imagination. It's no wonder so many of our customers are now asking eNSYNC for help in extracting, packaging, and delivering IFS Apps business performance KPIs to these "new wave" devices. Given the level of interest over the past two months, specifically around these three phones, eNSYNC's software engineers have done a deep dive into the operating systems and application development tools available from Apple, Samsung, and Research in Motion. We like what we see! And when you consider IFS's introduction of the new Enterprise Explorer GUI for version 7.5 and the open architecture that supports it, the options for mobile solutions are as exciting and they are many! Stay tuned as we just might have some compelling IFS mobility options for you to consider in the near future. In the meantime, we would like to ask your help by conducting a simple poll. Considering your organization's preference or standard in cellular service provider and your executives and senior management's use of cell phones, from which of the following three platforms would you most likely use to connect with IFS business applications to secure business performance metrics?
Finally, I would like to thank you for reading The Edge and welcome any ideas you might have for making this newsletter even more helpful to the IFS user community.
Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year!
Roger W. Resley President and CEO eNSYNC Solutions, Inc.

The Company We Keep
Remmele Upgrades to Applications 7 Remmele Engineering, based in Brighton, Minnesota, with four facilities and more than $100 million in annual sales, decided to upgrade from IFS 2003-SP2 to Applications7 SP4. Remmele does precision machining, fabrication, and assembly of complex components. eNSYNC Solutions collaborated with IFS and Remmele in the upgrade effort. IFS handled the technical work by determining which modifications had been made, updating the scripts for the database, and creating the new builds for the application. Remmele put together the re-implementation teams, which were staffed from all functional areas of the company. eNSYNC assisted in the project management, updating and upgrading of the hardware, creating the databases, and installing the new version of Oracle. eNSYNC also conducted "differences" training for the end users to highlight what new features and functions were available in Apps7 that were not there in IFS version 2003. ScanWorks Scoreboard
Keystone Dental Goes live with ScanWorks
Keystone Dental of Burlington, Massachusetts recently went live with an expanded IFS implementation and ScanWorks for IFS. Keystone's business has increased tenfold due to a recent acquisition, and the need to process more orders and shipments made it necessary to adopt a bar code data collection system.
Keystone's system requires both lot numbers and serial numbers to be tracked and recorded, and they wanted their ADC system to be installed quickly and on a turnkey basis. eNSYNC delivered, implemented and trained the users all in a matter of a few weeks. Now future plans include expanding the system to more users to leverage their efforts and further improve the return on their investment.
