Consultant's Corner
| Each month we will
bring you a shortcut or tip we have discovered as a result of working
with IFS. This month Doug Gourley discusses IFS' Received But Not Invoiced general ledger account.
Doug Gourley's Tip
If your company processes a high volume of supplier receipts and invoices, you may have trouble reconciling your IFS' Received But Not Invoiced general ledger account. One customer said it was common for their staff accountant to spend a week identifying the reconciling differences that had accumulated over time. We have found a solution to this problem.

Technical Tips & Tricks
Alan Clark's Oracle Standby Database TipMurphy's Law dictates that every database will go down at some point, and often when you least expect it to. Alan shares his experience with the Oracle Standby Database to help ensure that you are well prepared for such an event.
The most common use of standby database is for disaster recovery. However, more customers are leveraging standby databases as a failover solution especially when hardware failover or RAC is not implemented.
An Oracle Standby Database may be the "right" choice if,
- Your business requirements justify the cost. For example, your company leverages an ERP system and many business processes have no manual offline alternative.
- Oracle replication is not suitable for your environment.
Critical data or databases cannot be rebuilt fast enough by other recovery solutions. How do you know if your business justifies the cost?

Greetings!
Welcome to the "First" Edition of "The Edge," a newsletter for IFS customers from eNSYNC Solutions. eNSYNC, a long time Alliance Service Partner with IFS, is focused solely on the service and support of IFS customers. With more than 16 years' experience in support of ERP Systems, our past eight years have been spent with IFS. When our IFS practice started in the fall of 2000, we wanted a logo which conveyed our loyalty and dedication to IFS plus excellence in service to IFS customers. We chose the missing corner, or the "edge" of the popular purple and yellow IFS logo. We believe our company name and logo uniquely symbolize our goal to be "in sync" with customer needs and the IFS technology they count on every day.
We hope to give you an edge by bringing you the "The Edge!" Our newsletter is intended to be educational and informative for those who use and maintain IFS Applications. Published monthly, you can look for repeating segments including The Company we Keep - a Customer Story featuring a business problem solved; Consultants Corner, where one of our Senior Business Analysts will address a customer-registered question; and finally, Technology Tips and Techniques, which will feature helpful suggestions on database maintenance, report writing, data conversion, integration, and building product extensions. Another area of interest might be "What's in the Works for IFS," which will showcase various product extensions and enhancements eNSYNC has built over the years including ScanWorks, the most widely used bar code data collection solution for IFS.
Please let us hear from you. We welcome your suggestions and input to make "The Edge" even more valuable reading. Your IFS questions are very welcome and we look forward to hearing from you. Best Regards, Roger Resley President & CEO eNSYNC Solutions, Inc.
