Dear Progressives,

We're concluding an interesting month of provocative speakers and ideas in these late-breaking events at The Progressive Center. For the next couple of months, many of you will be starting to focus on partisan politics as we enter the last lap into our November 2nd election day. We'll be voting for Texas Governor, our state representatives, and county offices. I hope our collection of events this summer have inspired you to look beyond labels and remember why we're participating in a democratic process.

We must continue to strive towards the exchange of ideas. We must regularly challenge conventional notions as our economy, environment, and technology changes. We should try to spend just a little time and patience to see beyond the rhetoric of whoever we consider is "the other side". Behind their rhetoric is often a poor articulation of their fears, and if we can understand the fears of another, we can often find the clues to collaboration or common cause. If we can find some opportunities for collaboration or common cause, we can get closer to Thomas Jefferson's ideal as described in the Preamble to the Constitution of The United States of America: "in Order to form a more perfect Union...".

Please come down to these last minute events at the Progressive Center if you can, or stop by as a few friends and I will be doing voting registration at Congresswoman Johnson's Community Appreciation Day at Fair Park's Texas Discovery Gardens on Saturday, September 11th.

Be Well and Be Progressive,

Tracy Clinton
