Dear Progressives,
Several of us took a break after the primaries and runoffs, and we've
come back as early voting starts for municipal elections all over Texas.
Check out your local board of elections website for your county to find the voting locations. Please find your local chapter of the League of Women Voters, who do an excellent job of creating handy voting information documents, and see what's up in your corner of the world. I'm out and about today, delivering signs for a candidate endorsed by a non-partisan organization I belong to, Dallas Friends of Public Education. Check them out at www.dfpe.org if you're interested in DISD issues - and then head out to the polls! That's it for now as I get some sunscreen for this weekend's Mega March 2010 (see below). Enjoy the mild weather this week...
Be Well and Be Progressive,
Events at The Progressive Center:
Civil Rights Awareness Forum Saturday, May 8th, 9:30am sign-in - 10:00am to Noon event
What is a civil rights abuse? If your civil rights have been abused, what do you do? Diana Clark, head of the NAACP Legal Redress Committee, has invited judges and lawyers in our community to fill a panel of experts to talk about what your civil rights are in Texas and what you can do when you feel you've been wronged. The panel will be taking questions and offering very preliminary advice for what can be very complicated situations. We'll also have Edward Elizondo on hand to address basic workplace questions and issues related to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. RSVP HERE: http://tinyurl.com/Rights201005
