Update:The date for the Bill White rally is MARCH 1st (next Monday), not May 1st.

Dear Progressives,

Remember how exciting the last primary season was? Remember the LONG lines and hassle? The good thing is that in non-Presidential primary years, the turn-out is historically lower and you're practically guaranteed to be able to walk in, vote, and walk out in under ten minutes.
You have until this Friday to vote early at ANY polling location within your designated county.

Have we mentioned that there are brief precinct caucusing for the Democrats starting at 7:15pm at your precincts polling place on the evening of March 2nd? Again, lower turnout in non-Presidential primary years guarantees a much quicker process. If you're caucusing at your precinct past 8:30pm this time, someone's not doing it right. You have to show up for those if you want to participate in the county and state conventions. It'll be a much more streamlined process this go-around, so it's a great way to dip your toes into the behind-the-scenes action if you haven't before!

Please participate in your primaries & caucuses, no matter your political persuasion. It's time to move past the labels put on many of you who participated in record numbers in the 2008 primaries. There are no "Obama voters", "Hillary voters", or "Palin voters" anymore. You are all Texan voters, diverse and proud, and you can reward or punish the many officeholders you voted into office in 2008. Do what you can to make sure the leadership choices we have are the best we can have. Do it - You'll be glad you did!

MoveOn.org Dallas Council Meeting
Saturday, February 27th, sign-in 12:30pm - 1:00pm to 2:30pm meeting

The Progressive Center is hosting this month's Council meeting for Dallas. This will not be an event planning meeting. There will be free food & drinks (PG13 Drinks ;) and the focus will be on re-introducing what a MoveOn Council is - the different roles that make up a council, how they all work together to form a council and what roles we're in need of volunteers for in order to make our council complete!
This will be fun and informational and a great opportunity for folks to come out and learn about MoveOn without having to jump in and work on planning something right away. So if you've ever thought of jumping offline and getting involved in organizing, event planning, recruiting or media with the local council on the ground - now's the time to come gather with other fellow Dallas MoveOn members and learn more!

Civil Rights Awareness Forum
Saturday, March 6th, 9:30am sign-in - 10:00am
Are you a victim of civil rights abuse or just constitutionally-protected rudeness or insensitivity? If your civil rights have been abused, what do you do? Diana Clark, head of the NAACP Legal Redress Committee, has invited judges and lawyers, including Judge Elizabeth Crowder to fill a panel of experts to talk about what your civil rights are in Texas in the 21st century and what you can do when you feel you've been wronged. The panel will be taking questions and offering very preliminary advice for what can be very complicated situations.
