Dear Progressives,

Molly is still out sick with severe flu symptoms. Fortunately, she didn't test positive for H1N1 (swine flu) at the doctor's today, but she is more at risk now if she had the energy to get out of her house for anything but the doctor's office. There are a lot of questions people have about H1N1 flu, and a fair amount of misinformation. Tomorrow (Thursday), October 22nd, the Dallas Democratic Forum will present a panel on "Our Response to H1N1 - Will It Be Enough?" The panelists will be
John T. Carlo, MD, MSE, Medical Director Dallas County - Health & Human Services; Dennis Dorsey, Director of Security, North Park Mall; and Harvey O. Perriot, Protective Security Advisor, Department of Homeland Security for the North Texas District. The moderator will be Scott Chase, an attorney certified in Health Law.

The event will be at the Belo Mansion, 2101 Ross Ave at the corner of Olive St in downtown Dallas. Underground parking is available on the Olive St side of the building. Registration and Buffet Lunch is at 11:30am, with the program starting at noon. It is free for 2009 DDF Patron/Sustaining Members, $20 for people who mention The Progressive Center at the door.

There's still early voting going on every day until October 30th, with the final Election Day being November 3rd! Check out the links below for our local board of election websites in the DFW area, and the Dallas League of Women Voters website where they've produced a voter's guide for your reading and voting pleasure.

Everybody might as well bookmark their board of elections websites right now, because we've got the 2010 primaries in March, and it looks like we'll have a free-for-all special election in May for an empty U.S. Senate seat here in Texas. 2010?!? YES! 2009 is almost over and 2010 going to be a big year as the Democrats and Republicans duke it out for dominance as we begin local and national redistricting in just a little over a year. Here are the board of elections website links for the big counties in our immediate area:
