Greetings Progressives!
This break in the 100+ temperatures this weekend has given us a breather to contemplate how best to use one's energies once the withering heat returns. You have to pace oneself or you burn out entirely - and we have to keep the fires of change smoldering, even in the summer!
Molly and I both know from experience that labor shared is labor less burdensome. Find ways to make an activity or party of it. If you're making calls to gather pledges for OFA, make it into a pizza party or cookout. If you're going to a meeting or forum, can you say carpool and dinner and drinks after? If there's a rally or march, always bring a water bottle and plan to get some tea and dessert after, maybe? Activism requires voices raised in tandem, but it can be fun, too. You're working towards a better tomorrow, folks!
Be Well, and Be Progressive!
Tracy Clinton & Molly Hanchey

Tuesday, July 21st - 6:30pm check in, 7 pm to 8:30 pm
Many in Dallas hold multiple jobs yet still must rely on food and clothing pantries. Better wages and healthcare would increase family security and improve quality of life. Mr. Lantz and Reverend Doctor Joerge Reiger discuss this current bill and invite a lively dialogue. Gene Lantz is proudest of his title of "organizer" for North Texas Jobs with Justice, among his many other credentials. Reverend Doctor Joerg Rieger is a professor at the Perkins School of Theology at SMU and an internationally known theologian and author.

Urban Environmentalism: Sharing Sustainable Progress
Friday, July 31st 6:30pm (come early!)
Houston Mayor Bill White and Laura Aune, Trade Commissioner, Canadian Consulate General-Dallas are our honored guests and speakers.
Mayor White, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy, is designated one of America's "Greenest Mayors." He made Houston the nation's leading purchaser of renewable energy and cut energy consumption by 6% during double digit economic growth.
Mrs. Aune has a mission to see Dallas reduce auto emissions by developing walkable and affordable neighborhoods. She recently returned from guiding a delegation from Dallas including Mayor Tom Leppert to explore Toronto's best case walkable neighborhoods.
The DFW area began to shift to more sustainable growth years ago, but we can always use fresh perspectives and solutions so that our continuing population boom doesn't overwhelm us financially or environmentally. Bring your questions!
