Ride with the Krewe of Halloween From: Robert Watters, President BBA Halloween is one of the great celebrations in the French Quarter and we'd like to join Blaine Kern in making New Orleans the country's premier destination for Halloween parties. I've met with Blaine on several occasions to discuss this year's plans. Blaine is convinced that this year is pivotal in creating the excitement and momentum to establish New Orleans as "the" destination for the celebration. This year's parade will be held on Saturday October 30. The Saints will be playing in the Dome on Halloween Eve October 31. Blaine has offered to make one of the floats available at a cost of $650 per rider or $600 per couple/pair. This does not include the cost of the throws. They have a number of floats available, ranging from 30 to 60 people. We have to obtain the commitment of at least thirty (30) people by September 15 to reserve a float. The throws will be available from Beads by the Dozen 333 Edwards in Elmwood on October 14. There will be a number of bead packages available; expect to spend around $350 in throws. Harrah's has already committed to a float, and local and national celebrities will also be riding. The cast members from TWILIGHT will be filming in the region and Blaine feels confident that they will be riders as well. This is a great opportunity for us to develop this holiday for the benefit of the entire French Quarter. For more information visit Krewe of Halloween.com. Please contact Zella May at 504-233-0128 to express interest in riding. Payment will be due by October 15. |
