Artist Spotlight - Patty Turse |
I met Patty 3 years ago, when she contacted me about doing a demo CD of lullaby music. When I learned that her primary instrument for the demo was a harp, I of course was extremely excited! As an engineer recording guitars is almost a daily occurrence, but working with a harp player had me thrilled. We recorded the tracks for the demo adding vocals, keyboards, and sound effects for layering and textures. You can preview them on her website. Currently Patty works at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ as a certified harp therapist. She walks the floors in the children's wing with her hand held harp filling the rooms with the sweet melodies of song. It helps ease the minds and hearts and patient and visitor alike. She is also looking to become certified as a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Music Therapist. That will educate her on the care of new borns, primarily those that are born premature. It will also keep her up to date on the research of how music can provide nurturing for babies and stimulate growth.
Patty also works for a charity called "Creative Heartwork". They take children ages 4-18 from tough situations and work with them doing art and music. The end artistic product may be a CD, mural, portraits, stories, etc. She states; "The last art project we did was a living room designed from all natural materials (sticks, rocks, etc)- and it is being showcased in the Morris County library. Music wise, various groups we have worked with have recorded CDs and also played with professional West African drummers."
Patty is a very caring person and an amazing musician. She is such an asset to our music community. You can hear audio samples of the CD on her website and her contact information is available for bookings. (weddings, musical theatre, parties, etc..) TD |
