Neve Preamps @ Firedog

Neve presWe just got in another pair of really good sounding mic pre's at Firedog. They are a pair of vintage Neve 33114 modules that were racked up for us by Boutique Audio Design. (Courtesy of Firedog Producer/Engineer Dave Yackaboskie)

After some badgering by the Firedog crew, Dave decided they would have a safe happy home sounding great in the studio on our latest projects. These class A/B mic pre / eq's are similar to the famed 1081's with 5 band parametric eq, transformer balanced mic, line inputs and outputs. We have already started using them on Vocals, Bass, and Drums with amazing results. They sound very clear and extremely realistic.

For a listen to these preamps and others at the studio check out our preamp shoot out podcast available on iTunes.
Special thanks to Ian @ Boutique Audio Design for a job well done. http://www.boutiqueaudio.com
Unknown Souldier - Jim Dunlop artist of the week!

Unknown SouldierUnknown Soldier is the creation of Gods will and Brother Terry Baert. Terry had come to us last fall looking for a break from the high profile big budget NYC studio where he was working. What he got was an amazing break on price and a boost in energy and creative input. Terry is a proven talent in the Inspired Rock Music Genre.

We have produced 6 songs so far that are to be released on a full length CD sometime this fall. Working with Terry has been a great experience. We listen to each-others ideas and share the same desire to move each song in the right direction. All this hard work has led Unknown Soldier to be recently featured on Dunlop Strings band of the week. Terry also played acoustic performances on two dates of the famed national eXtreme Tour. Take a listen to our iTunes podcast about the latest completed song called "Walking in the Sky". Or visit his My Space site and take a listen.

We also featured a video podcast of Brother Terry's time in the studio on a song called I am not a Robot.  Check it out on our iTunes Page!

Firedog's Sonicbids 2007 Talent Contest winner is......?    Lindsay Katt!!

Kev Lindsay and TomFiredog Studios ran a talent contest last year on Sonicbids.com and the winner received free studio time. After many months of chatting online, the time was finally right for Lindsay Katt to pay us a visit and claim her reward.  Lindsay is a fantastic singer who is currently working in New York city on a cd due out this fall.  She came down Firedog and we recorded a tune called "Heart Place" which she wrote just for this occasion.
You can check out the song and other material on her My Space Page and it will also find a home on her cd, "Picking out Boxes".

Special thanks to all who participated in the studio time giveaway and keep on the lookout for our 2008 contest on Sonicbids in the fall.
Thank you to all our clients and friends for continuing to make great music with us.  If there's anything you would like to see in our upcoming newsletters, just drop us a line and stay tuned for more from Firedog!
