Only a few days left to sign up for the Men's January Trips!

A lot has happened since the last newsletter.  The decision has been made that HERO Makers will stay and work on the U.S. side of the border this January with ministries who serve children at risk.

Worried about the misconception of the "border area"?
Reynosa is nowhere close to being as violent as Juarez, the city across the border from El Paso (12 hrs drive time to McAllen) , and likewise it is very safe in the Rio Grande Valley.

Despite being located across the border from one of the deadliest cities in the world, El Paso is the safest large city in the United States, according to rankings released Sunday. Though the city has been ranked in the top three each year since 1997, this is the first time El Paso has taken the top spot for having the lowest crime rate among cities of more than 500,000 population in the annual rankings by CQ Press, a publishing firm based in Washington, D.C.

The Needs are Growing!

Some of you may have received the request sent by our facebook webpage regarding one of the Children's Homes in Reynosa where we serve.  Click here to read the request.

All children's homes are suffering more than usual because groups are not coming as they have in the past.  When groups came to help they were also made aware of what the financial needs are to support these young ones year round.  Monthly support for these homes is vital to their being able to help more and more children at risk.

I pray that each one of you is currently sponsoring a child at risk somewhere in the world today through the many organizations that are set up to do so.  If not, please consider starting your sponsorship right now by setting up your monthly donation here and selecting one of the many orphanages we help throughout the year.  It is really needed now and for the future for these kids.

We don't know when we will be able to go back into the border region, but the full-time caretakers are there to do what they can, and we need to help them the best way we can. Right now that is through your monthly support.

It is estimated that from December, 2006 to today between 30,000 and 50,000 children have been orphaned in Mexico as a result of the drug battles.  Your support is needed.

The Ministry of HERO Makers could use your help as well!

In the past we really didn't share the needs of the HERO Makers Ministry.  Our goal has been to raise awareness of the needs for Project Funds, and Child Sponsorship.  These designated funds do not cover administrative and operational expenses of the ministry.

It has been mentioned by others that we need to share the needs of the ministry in order to accomplish the things that God has called us to do.  While many of you have donated additional monies to help cover the expenses of the ministry of HERO Makers, it is difficult to budget expenses and make real plans without knowing what the income will be.  And the needs are not being met.  For example, we set for two months in May and June without funds to pay for fuel to travel to promote the ministry.  HERO Makers has regular monthly expenses that need to be covered to remain operational, and we are looking for people to become monthly partners of our ministry.

Many of you may never have the chance to join us on one of our mission trips.  By clicking here you can partner with us in this work of serving His children who are in need, and the many godly individuals who care for them.

During this time of Thanksgiving, we are thankful for each of you and covet your prayers.

Every little bit helps!
