FAMILY TRIP This Summer!

Still time to Sign-up for this July 4th Family Trip

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder about signing up for the July 4th - July 9th HERO Makers Family Trip to Reynosa, Mexico.  The cutoff for the trip sign-up is this weekend to allow time for ordering shirts and really cool duffle bags that have your name embroidered on them.

Some of you perhaps have been on the fence due to concerns over Swine Flu or Violence in Mexico.  Our news media does a great job making it sound like these issues are prevalent everywhere in Mexico and that is not the case. Below is the link to the latest info not changed since Feb. 09 about Reynosa which is a safe destination / location in Mexico.  All of the activity is way to the west in terms of real violence.

This lift on the travel ban was done about 2 weeks ago regarding the swine flu:

Hope to see your name and members of your family on the trip list and prepare for a very rewarding family trip.   As a reminder this trip is not exclusive to just families - singles and partial families are all welcome.  They key thing is children 3rd grade and up may attend with a parent or guardian.

God Bless,
Ken Jackson

 The Miracle of the Truck

The Truck that the Lord Provided

Many responded to the email titled "Miracle In Progress" about what the Lord has done in supplying the necessary truck to tow the 5th wheel around the country to help spread the news about the ministry and the need of orphans around the world.

This is the truck now hooked up with the trailer and on the road.

Thanks to many of you who responded to the request to pay off the purchase price of this truck.  The majority of the funds are in and we are anxious tell more of the story of how the Lord provides the needs of the ministry when you obey what he tells you to do.  I did not know when we started this ministry that He would have us sell everything and move to the border area to better accommodate receiving groups of folks like yourselves to come and help with the various projects that are needed at the different orphanages.  But we said YES!  He made the sale of the home and the move to the border happen.  And if you would have said that we would be driving a huge truck like this one in order to do our part in spreading the word about the need, we probably would have laughed.  But, He again is having His way with us and continues to make it all happen.  All the glory goes to God.

Fundraising Success

North Texas Bowling Fundraiser

We had a great time at the Bowling Fundraiser.  Chris Debrecht said we had 40+ bowlers and we raised over $13,000 !  Thanks to all who participated.  Those of you in North Texas who were not able to participate, you'll want to put it on your calendar for next time once a date gets set.

Building Fences For Orphans

It's complete!  Our first Fence for Orphans.  Way to go N-TX HMs.  22 people participated in this fundraiser.  Not bad for a first event.  The fence looks great.  Nancy loves it.  What a difference in her yard.  I think I mentioned before that Nancy has already lined us up with an executive at JC Penny's who wants to talk with us about building her fence.  This could be good for another fundraising opportunity, but maybe even beyond that.  Maybe a future corporate sponsor relationship in the making.

I will be calculating the hours spent on the landscaping and fence and allocate the $3,000 to those who worked on the fence/landscaping by hours worked.  Amounts will be attributed to individuals under the $500 Challenge.

Again, way to go.  The month of May has been a great month for N-TX Hero Makers and our efforts to support Hero Makers and make an impact for the kids we care so much about south of the border.  I might be so bold as to say,  our actions even pleased God - James 1:27.
