FAMILY TRIP This Summer!

Sign-up now for this July 4th Family Trip

As a family, this will be a great time to serve our younger brothers and sisters south of the border in Reynosa, Mexico.  Bring your children entering 3rd grade or higher on this life changing experience.

We will have a HOT Time in Old Mexico ....

From our brother Ken Jackson:  Hope everyone is doing well - it's amazing to think it's been about 4 months since most of us last saw each other in Texas / Mexico!  Not sure if all of you are aware yet but recently a new trip was posted on the HERO web site for early July.  July you say?  It's going to be hot!  Well yes, but we have a plan to keep cool and endure the heat!

This will be a family trip and a chance for some of us to bring daughters and sons (and granddaughters, grandsons, nieces and nephews, etc) down to Reynosa to see what we have been talking about, and get to participate in the experience.  We will be staying at Rio Bravo with nice amenities for the entire family, including those all-so mandatory showers and air conditioning units for the ladies (and us wimps, too).

Our plan is to start work early in the morning each day.  In the afternoon we'll take a siesta break, have our large group time and relax in the A/C, etc.  Then we will venture back out in the evenings to cook a meal for a children's home, possibly hand out shoes and enjoy other evening activities.  Most likely we will visit the Colonia along the river to hand out beans and rice which will be a truly rewarding experience for our kids!

Don't feel like you cannot participate unless your entire family comes.  We will have several folks unable to have both spouses and children all present (including me).  Also don't feel like you have to bring other family members.  Singles and couples without children are also welcome.
Bottom line: 3rd grade and up - both sexes - all welcome.

Remember in December we talked about the Coffeeneed for more project fundraising to take place so that we could better meet the needs of the children along the border? Well you folks came through!  It all started with a quick trip to Southwoods Church in Kansas to pick up the donated work trailer full of tools.

THANK YOU KC!

In January, on the men's trips, another new home for 12 children was started at Pilar de Esperanza, thanks to the funds raised by individuals for the building materials.

For the February Trip, Ray Young joined the Canadian crew and we really moved the home at Casa Hogar Refugio along to the final stages for completion.  Also, a new relationship was started in Edinburg, TX. with Pastor David, the founder of a Christian home/school for girls from the poor areas of Mexico.  Two of the 30+ girls were from two of the children's homes that we work with in Mexico.
This is a great work with fantastic results and we look forward to being more involved with them in the future.
