Canadians Rock!

  April Trip Rocked On!

OK.  The "rocking" we are talking about here is all the sheetrocking that was done at the new Casa de Irene home located at Casa Hogar Refugio Children's Home in Reynosa, Mexico.  71% of our short term missionaries were here from the area of Calgary, Canada!  What a blessing it was to work along side these godly brothers and sisters from the far north.  The Lord gave us a lot of fun opportunities with the children of the home, allowed us to get a lot of the sheetrock on the ceilings and the walls, and as mentioned in previous newsletter, we built an addition to the home that will accommodate the children of the house parents.  We feel this is a strategic plan in retaining the house parents for a longer period of time, giving more stability to the children in need. Even working late into the night on our last night to get the addition "dried in".

Great group of volunteers!
Summertime = Moving Forward Time

Lot's happening during this so-called summertime of  rest.  Different church groups from around the country are "vacationing" at Casa Hogar Refugio, moving the work forward on Casa de Irene so that new children at risk can have a place to call home.  What a privilege it is to be part of this work for HIS kids.

Talk about moving!  The news is out.  We (Rocky and Sheri)

will be selling everything and moving into a 5th wheel trailer to be more flexable in doing what the Lord commands of us.  Facilitating more groups to help meet the needs of children at risk, while spending time together in our respective ministries, is what we are hearing.

We need to spend a large amount of time along the border, maintaining relationships with partners already developed, overseeing future projects, and exploring the greatest need of other children's homes.  These challenges can best be met by being there for extended periods.  Living in a 5th wheel will provide mobility, allowing us to shift locations as needed.  This is certainly a time of "getting out of our own comfort zones."  In reality we feel more "at home" and "comfortable" when we are in the mission field, especially with the loving volunteer groups that work along side of us and share in this glory work of the King!

Once the April Trip was completed, it was time to work own our own home getting it ready for sale.  May and June were busy months of getting projects done with the help of many HERO friends.

Our house is now officially on the market.  Please pray for the right buyer to come quickly and for the Lord to provide the 5th wheel and tow vehicle.

This is the last chance this year for adults to be on an inexpensive HERO Makers trip to the mission field.  Help make a difference by working on this home for 12 more children.  We will also spend a fun night in San Antonio along the Riverwalk.  This is a great trip for couples or singles.  Lots to see and do as we serve our neighbors to the south.

Needs of the Ministry
We have been fortunate and appreciate the use of the work truck and tools of POWER Ministry on past trips.  But now, because of insurance and liability reasons, these are no longer available to us.
The Lord has already blessed us with some new tools through close friends of the ministry.  But more are needed!  Please look online for tools that are needed to perform the work that is necessary.

A message about a need from our friend Chris
Hello HERO Makers,

As you know, or have now heard, Rocky is selling his home and buying a travel home so he and his wife can be closer to the mission field in Mexico. He is currently using an older "topless" (I'd send pictures but your email filter would not allow them through) laptop to assist him while in the field. He will be using a laptop more as the space available in the travel home is limited and it makes better sense to be "mobile" with their upcoming plans.

I think this is a great opportunity for us to take care of one of Rocky's needs and will benefit us too on upcoming Hero Holidays and trips (you try singing with those guys from Kansas with no words on the screen). I will be the contact for this so let me know what you would like to contribute to this so we can purchase a new one.

I'll let everyone know how we are doing and what we get him.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you soon!
