Homewood is the place to celebrate 4th of July, with a full day of fun events!

 

RUN FOR FREEDOM 5K

9:00 AM

Sponsored by the H-F Park District and Conroy Sports Physical Therapy

 

Start your day at the RUN FOR FREEDOM 5K.This annual tradition will start and end at Lions Club Park and Pool, located at 1041 Ridge Road, directly across the road from the Izaak Walton Preserve. Day of registration starts at 8:00 AM, Run for Freedom 5K starts at 9:00 AM. For more information about Run for Freedom, contact the H-F Park District at 708-957-7275.

 

INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE

Line up at 10:00 AM

Step-off at 11:00 AM

Starts at St. Joseph Parking lot

Ends at Izaak Walton Preserves

Come out and enjoy a spectacular July 4 parade, filled with clowns, stilt walkers, floats, marchers and much more! For parade participants, line-up is at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Parking lot.  For spectators, the parade will step-off promptly at 11:00 AM, heading south on Dixie Highway to Ridge Road and east to the Izaak Walton Preserve. FAMILY FUN FEST

Izaak Walton Preserve

Noon until 3:00 PM

After the Independence Day Parade enjoy the afternoon at the annual Family Fun Fest. The day will be filled with games, entertainment, music and much more! Pack a picnic and bring the family down for an afternoon of fun!

 

POP UPRIGHTS TO PLAY

While having a great time at Family Fun Fest, everyone is invited to have fun with the Pop Upright to Play piano that will be on display at Izaak Walton, during Family Fun Fest. Pop Upright to Play is a new public art project sponsored by the Village Council for the Arts. Local artists and service groups are painting murals on donated pianos to be placed around Homewood with an invitation for anyone to tickle the ivories regardless of musical talent.

 

Next stop for the piano will be Dairy Queen, on Ridge Road, after Family Fun Fest. Pianos will appear around Homewood throughout the summer until Homewood's annual Fall Fest and Chili Cook Off on September 15, 2012.
