2012 HALL of FAME NOMINATION DUE

The Village of Homewood is proud of its heritage and its strong sense of community. It is the wealth of its heritage that has contributed greatly to the Homewood we are today.
Homewood has been privileged to have many individuals who have given generously of their time and talent to maintain and strengthen the sense of community that has been so vital in developing Homewood as a prosperous community. The Village of Homewood will acknowledge up to five current or past residents bi-yearly who have made significant and beneficial contributions to the life and well being of the Village of Homewood.
Residents are encouraged to nominate individuals, married couples, or a family. Homewood is privileged to have many individuals who have given generously of their time and talent to maintain and strengthen the sense of community that is vital to developing Homewood as a prosperous community.

ART AND GARDEN STREET FAIR | |

The two day festival features over 45 unique artisans and vendors, activities for all ages, gardening workshops, music from around the world and food from Homewood's best restaurants. The festival is centered at Martin Avenue and Ridge Road in Homewood.

Bring the family out for the 9th Annual "Homewood Rail Heritage Days". The Homewood Rail Committee is sponsoring this family fun two day event, May 19 and May 20.
Saturday, May 19, a Slideshow featuring various subjects on train rails and trains will be held from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the St. Joseph Church gymnasium. There is a $2.00 admission fee.
Sunday, May 20, Rail Fest will be held at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Auditorium 9:00 AM to 3:00PM. Admission is FREE! There will be free rides on "Lil Obie" sponsored by Canadian National Railroad. Rail and train enthusiasts will be able to swap railroad memorabilia. Participate in a Raffle featuring an HO Scale Model Railroad Layout and much more!

ON SALE: HOMEWOOD VEHICLE STICKERS, PARKING STICKERS AND ANIMAL TAGS | |
2012/2013 Vehicle stickers are on sale. Preprinted applications are mailed to those who have purchased stickers in the past. Residents are encouraged to update outdated information on the applications. Vehicle sticker applications and payments may be mailed or placed in the Village's drop box located in front of the Village Hall. Completed applications, along with payment may also be brought to the Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road for processing. Late fees will apply to all vehicle stickers purchased after May 31.
All Village parking stickers expire on April 30. This includes Overnight Parking Ban Exemptions, No Parking Ridge Road Exemptions, Central Business District Business Parking, and Central Business District Residential Parking. Individuals who currently hold any of these parking stickers must renew them. A new application is required each year.
In addition to vehicle stickers, animal license tags are also on sale. A current rabies certificate is required for purchasing an animal license each year. Please call (708)798-3000 if you have any questions. |

GOT CORK? | |
Fresh Starts, of Flossmoor, announced they will have a drop box for recycling wine corks. Fresh Starts will collect the corks from their wine bar and invites residents to drop off their own corks, during business hours. Only natural corks will be accepted (no plastic corks or screw tops, please). Corks will be donated to Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center for use in their program and to Corkologie of Melrose Park that creates a variety of post-consumer products.

The H-F Park District wants to reward you for shopping local and green. Join the H-F Go Green Program that helps you earn prizes as you support local businesses and community events that are eco-friendly.
Program Summary
- Community members can receive a "Go Green" punch card from the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.
- Participating businesses and events will have designated "Go Green" approved purchases or activities. For example, shopping at the local Farmers' Market or riding your bike to a local store.
- A completed punch card can be turned in to the Park District to win raffle prizes.
What can you do to participate?
- Pick up your "Go Green" punch card from the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.
- Start shopping and earning punches on your "Go Green" card. A list of participating vendors and events can be found at hfparks.com
- Turn in your completed card to the Goldberg or Irwin Center for your chance to win a monthly raffle prize.
