We Need Your Help!

Prior to January of 2011, municipalities received 10% of all state income tax revenues; this has been reduces so that now we only receive 6%. That's because, after the largest income tax increase in Illinois history, the General Assembly decided that the state would keep all of the increase for itself; thereby elminating the portion that would normally go back into our local municipalities.

The Illinois General Assembly will be in session until May 31. During this period, we along with other communicities' mayors and managers will be going to Springfield as often as necessary to meeti with our legislatures and explain this to them. We are doing our part for the Village of Homewood, but we can't do it alone.  We need your help to get the message to our state legislatures.

Please contact your state Senators and Representatives, send them an email and ask them to, "restore the State Income Tax share to municipalities to its previous level of 10% and to abandon plans for any cuts to municipalities share of the income tax." The State of Illinois should not attempt to balance its budget on the backs of municipalities.
