Shred-a-Thon Event this Saturday

Free Document Shredding and Recycling
Saturday, July 24 | 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
St. Joseph Parking Lot, 17951 Dixie Highway

The Village offers activities for eco-minded residents on three dates during the Farmers' Market Season.  On Saturday, July 24, Harris Bank in Homewood will sponsor a complimentary document shredding and recycling service during Homewood's Farmers' Market.

Village President Richard Hofeld is holding a contest to find the oldest document brought to the Shred-a-Thon; winner collects a $50 Homewood shopping gift certificate.

Document shredding minimizes the risk of identify theft when discarding of personal items, etc.  Those bringing items to be shredded do not need to remove staples or paper clips, only binders.  This service is not intended for businesses.  Click here for a helpful guide of what personal records to keep and when to throw away.

Future Scheduled Green Saturdays: August 28 | Electronic Waste Collection * October 16| Prescription Drug Disposal
Click here for the pooch parade application, flea market vendor application, or to become a vendor!

Dog Days of Summer 2010
Join the Giant Flea Market at Dog Days!

Gather your volunteers and their unwanted items and you can raise awareness, along with money, as a vendor in the flea market at the Village of Homewood's 10th annual Dog Days of Summer event.  The market will offer event patrons an opportunity to shop unique finds and support great causes.

The  Community Relations Commission invites you to participate in this premier family-friendly, community event, celebrating summer fun, fuzzy four-legged friends, and yummy hot dog and sausage recipes.  The event is highly promoted and yields a great crowd - an awesome opportunity to showcase your group to the community and make a little money a few unwanted items.  The Commission encourages youth groups and programs, girl scouts and boy scouts, 501( c ) organizations, PTAs, etc. to participate.

Organizations requesting a space as a vendor in the Dog Days Flea Market must be a registered 501(c) organization. Flea market vendors will be received on a first-come, first-served basis.  Approximately 20 spaces will be available for local not-for-profit organizations. The Dog Days of Summer Flea Market Vendor Application must be received by August 13.  The fee for approved flea market vendors is $35.00.  Approved flea market vendors will receive an approximate 10'x10' space only; tables, chairs, and electricity are not included.
