The Dixie Highway is a historic route in the United States, and in Illinois several groups come together every year to "Cruise" the Dixie from Blue Island to Momence. The event started in Homewood with the Homewood Heritage Committee and continues more than seven years later with a huge following, featuring classics from Model A Fords to anything from the present. Stops are made along the way in several of the cities and everyone has a great time while celebrating a piece of history.  Those seeking to participate (all are welcome) should contact Heritage Committee Chair Elaine Egdorf at (708) 798-9535; those wanting to view the cars should go to Hickory Road at Martin Avenue around 10:00 AM. Event held in conjunction with the Art and Garden Street Fair.
