Homewood Rotary Club News
| |
The Homewood Rotary Club has recently completed two local service projects: In October, all third grade students in every public and private school in Homewood, Glenwood and Flossmoor received a dictionary. 838 dictionaries were given to the students. Rotarians met with the students when the dictionaries were distributed. The students sent thank you notes:
- I really appreciate my dictionary. I think it will help me a lot with the learning process.
- I love the dictionaries. Now I can see where my Dad is," by a child whose father is serving in the armed forces.
- The dictionary you gave me is amazing! It has all sorts of cool info about the world and our country.
This project will be repeated again next year. A new group of third graders will receive new dictionaries in the fall. In November, the Homewood Rotary Club provided Thanksgiving dinners to needy families. Thanks to the generosity of the Rotarians and Walt's grocery store, many families were provided turkey dinners with all the holiday fixings! The First Presbyterian Church and School District 153 helped identify families in need and make this holiday a bit brighter for some of our Homewood neighbors.

Reminder: PACE Service Change |
|
Starting February 7, the following PACE routes will be discontinued:
However, PACE does offer an alternate for residents: The PACE Metra Feeder Vanpool Program. The program allows for the Pace Van to be parked at a Metra station near the worksite, so that 5-13 participants can take the train and then use the van to complete the commute. |
Important Information about Snow Removal |
|
- It is mandatory that cars are removed from the streets for safe plowing when snowfall exceeds two (2) inches. The Department of Public Works continues to plow streets even after the snow has stopped. Repeated plowing ensures adequate removal of snow and proper salting. Do not return your vehicles to the roadway until plow trucks have ceased repeated plowing and salting. Violators are subject to ticketing and towing.
- When clearing your own sidewalks or driveways, it is illegal to deposit the snow on a public place such as a street or sidewalk.
