Holiday Lights in Homewood Recap
Residents gathered to celebrate the annual tree lighting ceremony last Friday and traveled throughout downtown on musical trolleys for shopping and special events hosted by members of the Downtown Homewood Business Association.

The Village would like to thank the downtown merchants that sponsored the complimentary trolleys and ice sculpting for Homewood residents: George Boggs, CFP and Fran Schrader, CFP, Art 4 Soul, Bella Vita Home Accents, Creative Seeds, Homewood Florist, Nathalie Interiors and Gallery, Nielsen's Bakery, Super Loot, Spaahs Skincare and Bodyworx, Suzie's Hallmark, and The Village Door

Please keep Homewood businesses in mind when you're looking for that special gift this holiday season.  Many merchants will have extended hours and special promotions leading up to the Christmas holiday.

The Village would also like to thank the following agencies for their pre-event planning and coordination and for lending resources to make this year a huge success: Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce, Homewood Economic Development Committee, and Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.

The Giving Tree and Food Drive

Snow Removal Etiquette
  • When clearing your own sidewalks or driveways, it is illegal to deposit the snow on a public place such as a street or sidewalk.  It is usually best to wait to clear your driveway until after snowplows have cleared the street so you don't have to clear your driveway entrance multiple times.
  • It is mandatory that cars are removed from the streets for safe plowing when snowfall exceeds two (2) inches.  The Department of Public Works continues to plow streets even after the snow has stopped.  Repeated plowing ensures adequate removal of snow and proper salting.  Do not return your vehicles to the roadway until plow trucks have ceased repeated plowing and salting.  Violators are subject to ticketing and towing.
