e-Alerts via Text-Messaging |
|
Those wishing to receive the e-Newswire and other alerts through a text message on their cell phone should contact their cellular service provider to confirm text-messaging service and to obtain their phone's email address. Most digital cell phones have the ability to receive short text messages. This is usually called short message service (SMS) or text paging. Once confirmed and the email address is identified, e-Newswire and alert subscribers can subscribe under an additional account, their cell phone email address, to receive text paging. Please note, this method of message receipt is not suggested for the e-Newswire as the electronic newsletter contains far more content then is permissible through simple cell phone text paging. The text paging method should be reserved for the Electronic Neighborhood Watch alert or emergency notification alert as these messages tend to be shorter in content. Please note, most cellular service providers charge additional fees for text paging features; confirm charges prior to subscribing. Click here for a chart of cellular service provider email addresses. |
