Fall Fest & Chili Cook Off: September 20 |
|
The Community Relations Commission will host its annual Fall Fest and Chili Cook Off event on Saturday, September 20.
- taste the delights prepared by local restaurants and grills
- tour downtown in a horse drawn wagon
- visit the petting zoo, paint a pumpkin, or bob for apples
- ride or race an antique pedal tractor
- listen to live music, three free concerts
- gather around the late night bon fire

Southgate Neighborhood Watch Meeting |

The Southgate Neighborhood Watch community will hold its meeting on Monday, September 8 from 7:00 - 8:30pm in the Dolphin Lake Clubhouse located at 183rd and Governors Hwy. Representatives from the police department will present information on home lighting, personal safety on the street and general awareness in our community. A block captain system will be set up to provide assistance and information to residents of the Southgate area. TreeShare Program ~ Fall 2008 |

The Village of Homewood's TreeShare Program offers its residents a chance to purchase selected trees and plant them anywhere on their property (private or parkway), as long as there are no utility conflicts involved. The Village splits the cost with the purchasing resident, thus giving residents a savings of 50%. Residents may purchase up to two trees. The Village will deliver to your parkway, with planting instructions attached. We are sorry, but the Village cannot plant the trees for you. The Illinois Condominium Advisory Council was established by the state legislature and signed by the Governor to:
- "identify issues facing condominium owners, condominium associations, and other persons who have financial interests in condominiums,
- "study the Condominium Property Act and related acts that effect condominium ownership and suggest legislation to the General Assembly to amend these Acts, and
- "report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly by January 31, 2009."

Family Shelter's Open House: September 22 |

The South Suburban Family Shelter will be hosting its Open House at its new facility in downtown Homewood (18139 Harwood Avenue) on September 22 from 6:00-8:00 PM. The Shelter would love to show off its new facility and tell the residents of Homewood about the services provided by South Suburban Family Shelter. Cancer Support Center's Walk of Hope |

The Cancer Support Center will hold its 10th Annual Walk of Hope on Sunday, October 5. The Walk benefits the FREE programs of information, hope and encouragement for people in the community living with cancer. The Center has two locations (Homewood and Mokena) and serves 70 southland communities. The Walk will be held at Marie Irwin Center in Homewood. Register online, or call 798-9171.

The Homewood Heritage Committee will host its fourth annual Homewood Hall of Fame. This year, the committee will be inducting seven outstanding individuals who have each made noteworthy contributions to this great community.
