Public Works Hosts Field Trip |
|
The JCC pre-school class took a field trip to Public Works to see all the major equipment the department operates each day. Children tested the bucket truck, backhoes, a mini excavator, dump truck with air horn, and paving machine and roller. They found out quickly that all of the horns worked properly! Public Works employees helped the children in and out of the machinery, showed them how to operate it, took them for rides in the aerial bucket and moved stone back and forth in the dump truck. Each child was awarded an "Honorary Backhoe Operator" certificate before they returned to school. Public Works provides dozens of opportunities for the community to learn about its services. |
