Commuters, Look Out for Murals!
Through May 18th, the commuter station in downtown Homewood will be getting a splash of color with the decorating of the vestibule (Harwood Avenue) and installation of six beautiful train murals - just in time for the Rail Committee's Railroad Days Logofifth annual Railroad Heritage Days scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th.  The Rail Committee has worked on a program to combine the appreciation and cultivation of public art, celebration of the railway, and promotion of local businesses through a mural program. Students from the AP (Advanced Placement) Studio Art program at Homewood Flossmoor High School have created one-of-a-kind designs depicting historical Homewood landmarks. Each sponsored design will be hung throughout the METRA tunnel to provide commuters with an eye-pleasing passageway into beautiful downtown Homewood. Six murals will be mounted within the next week. Each mural is sponsored by a Homewood resident or business.  There are still 12 unique mural designs available for sponsorship.  Sponsor a mural today!
