Greetings!
At the HNBF, our mission is to help Latino students achieve their potential through access to higher education and increase diversity in the legal profession. We seek to create a culture in the Latino community where higher education is the expectation rather than the exception.
For the past 25 years, we have been providing programs that build a brighter future for Latino students across our great nation. We believe that, with the right support, every student can rise above any barrier and achieve their potential. We are excited about our 7th annual Future Latino Leaders Law Camp, in progress, in D.C. from July 16 to 24, 2011.
The Law Camp provides an enriching experience for students outside the traditional classroom setting. During the 9-day camp, students interact with successful Latino leaders in the public and private sectors, tour federal institutions, and participate in a mock trial competition. Many of these students do not have positive role models in their community and this experience provides them with the inspiration and motivation to dream bigger for themselves. Last year, 70% of our students came from households led by non-college graduates. We are determined to change these statistics and improve the educational outcomes of our children--it's a moral and economic imperative.
In addition to our Law Camp, we will be hosting our Annual Awards Dinner where leaders from across the country join us in celebrating the achievements of Latinos in the legal profession. On July 21st, we will hold our Annual Awards Dinner, beginning with a reception at 6:30 pm, and followed by dinner at 7:30 pm at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We will be honoring the contributions made by Latino leaders in the judiciary, academia, government, and business. Please join us as we honor these accomplished leaders and celebrate diversity in the field.
With warm regards,
Mayda Prego

| | 2010 Law Camp Students at the United States Supreme Court |
Who inspired you as a youth to stay in school? Go to college? Earn a degree? Pursue your career aspirations? Today, you can be that source of inspiration and support for a youth through your financial contribution to the HNBF. Your support benefits Hispanic students from across the nation--many from high risk situations. The students pictured above all participated on scholarship in our Law Camp program. Your contribution can make all the difference in a young person's life. As a contributor, your investment would support the following programs: Future Latino Leaders Law Camp, Law Fellows, Securities Enforcement Law Class, Project Access Mentorship, and College Scholarships.
Since its founding 26 years ago, the HNBF has engaged, empowered, and supported Hispanic youth because we believe that knowledge and diversity benefit everyone. Lack of opportunities, role models, information, and financial support prevent many Hispanics from becoming leaders and contributing their voices on issues that affect our communities. The HNBF provides diversity pipeline programs to inspire and encourage young Hispanics to pursue careers in the legal profession. The HNBF provides the tools and resources necessary to ensure full and equal opportunity for Hispanics to become leaders in the global community, thereby ensuring a brighter future for all.
