Civil War Days

Step back in time to authentic Union and Confederate encampments and Blue-Gray skirmishes at 2 pm each day. Meet and talk to famous Civil War era participants including Lincoln, Grant and Jefferson Davis. On Saturday, July 24 at 12:30 pm, "Catch the Twain" at The Grove Log Cabin. On Saturday night from 7-8:30 pm, join us for a candlelight tour of the camps, which includes automatic admission to the Butterfly Ball. The Chicago Open, a USFS competition held at the Glenview Ice Center, draws more than 200 participants from across the Midwest and beyond. Farmers Market at Wagner Farm

The Glenview Farmer's Market is a free weekly event open for shopping rain or shine from 8 am until noon every Saturday through October 9 in the parking lot directly opposite the Wagner Farmhouse, 1510 Wagner Road. Come find hundreds of varieties of fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables!
The Chef's Table features local chefs doing cooking demonstrations using produce purchased at the market. Stop by and learn new ways to prepare your seasonal foods! The Green Table is a community environmental resource at the Farmer's Market whose goal is to promote conversation about and education on sustainable living. The Community Table features local non-profit groups. Stop by to learn more about the different organizations in your community.

Registration for the 9th Annual Park Center Tri closes July 23! Register online now at getmeregistered.com or at Park Center. Come on out and cheer on nearly 400 triathletes who will swim 300 yards in an indoor pool, bike 10 miles through the suburb of Glenview and run a 5K around Gallery Park. All Park Center Tri participants receive a T-shirt, goodie bag, finishing medal and post-race refreshments.
REMINDER...Chestnut Road between Lehigh Ave and Patriot Drive will be closed on Sunday, August 1st from 6:15am-9:30am for the Glenview Park District's Sprint Triathlon

Fall Indoor Tennis Lesson Registration

Discover the fun and fitness benefits of playing tennis! The Glenview Tennis Club offers lessons for all skill levels from beginning to advanced and from ages preschool through adult. The next 11-week session of indoor tennis lessons for children and adults begins September 9. Download the Junior Lesson Brochure and schedule or the Adult Lesson Brochure and schedule.
Tennis Club members may mail or drop off completed registration forms at the Glenview Tennis Club, by Saturday, July 31 at 3 pm. Available class openings will be filled by lottery from the applications received.
Non-member registration for Fall Indoor Tennis Lessons will take place at the Tennis Club on Wednesday, August 25 from 6-7 pm.

Free Monthly Recycling Drop Off on July 17

Northfield Township offers free monthly recycling events at the Northfield Township Garage. Residents can drop off the following items at the Township facility:computer hardware, household paint (oil and latex), engine oil, hydraulic oil, transmission fluid, cell phones/pagers, metal, batteries (all types), tires, bikes & toys (usable condition), clothing (usable condition), durable medical equipment (canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, standers, therapeutic equipment) and ink and toner cartridges.
On-site, secure document shredding will be provided by Opportunity Secure Data Destruction.
Additional recycling events hosted by Highway Commissioner Peter Amarantos and Supervisor Jill Brickman will take place August 21, September 25, and October 23. All events run from 9 am-1 pm.
