Do you love sports, enjoy working with young people and have a few hours a week to share your passion? Why not become a volunteer sports coach for one of the Glenview Park District's Youth Sports Leagues? Volunteering is a great way to:
  • Get involved in your child's team
  • Gain experience working with children (great for high schoolers & college students interested in teaching!)
  • Give back to the community & make a difference

The Glenview Park District would like to remind parents and other patrons that you play a key role in helping us to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for your kids and for all "kids at heart." Please take a minute to read the Park District's guidelines on the H1N1 virus and other flu viruses and have a safe & healthy fall at the Glenview Park District.

Go on an educational adventure with Extraordinary Kids
Classes start September 8 - spaces still available
Is your little one enrolled in morning or afternoon kindergarten this year? Supplement their learning with Extraordinary Kids, a kindergarten enrichment program at the Glenview Park District that provides the perfect mix of fun and education. With a 1:9 teacher to student ratio, the Extraordinary Kids experience prepares children for a highly successful, lifelong learning adventure.
 
Extraordinary Kids meets once a week for two hours. Class times are scheduled to accommodate your child's school schedule and are conveniently located at Roosevelt Pool Community Building, 2239 Fir St. Register online or at Park Center. Enjoy the magical sounds of summer at our final "Friday Night Live" performance at the Glenview Park Golf Club featuring "A Chunk of Soul." Come out for a twilight round of golf and stick around for a great evening. Food service starts at 6:45 pm, music at 7:30 pm.

Along with all the fresh produce, come on over to the farm and pick up a cold ice cream treat! Wagner Farm Sweets & Treats is open Saturdays at 10 am during the Farmer's Market.

FALL OPEN HOUSE

Saturday, August 29, 1:30-4:30 pm
Come and see our facility and enjoy Free Public Skating from 1:30-4:30 p.m (rental skates additional). Children ages 3-12 who have never had a lesson can register for a free 30 minute figure skating or hockey lesson. Click here to view the schedule of available lesson times. Call the Ice Center at (847) 724-2800 to sign your child up for the class of your choice. Lesson includes skate rental.
 
The Glenview Ice Center is also offering a series of three half hour long Beginners Only Figure Skating or three Intro to Development Hockey classes for children ages 3-12 who have never had a lesson for just $15 (skates included). Classes are held the week of Sept. 8. Registration includes a free Family Skate with Mickey of Friday, Sept. 11. Click on the program name for more information.

Travel back in time and find out what it was like to grow up on a farm in the 1920's. Kids ages 6-16 will enjoy a light snack before taking part in a variety of fun farm chores, from tending animals to weeding the kitchen garden. Chore boots and gloves are provided. Who forgot to mow the lawn? What is a tallgrass prairie and who lives there? Kids ages 8-12 can learn the answers and more in this exciting introduction to Illinois prairies. Don't miss your chance to participate in Glenview's own hometown tournament. The 41st Annual Women's Tourney is September 9 and 10 and includes a Ladies Awards Luncheon for all participants on Thursday, Sept. 10. The 45th Annual Men's Tourney is September 12 and 13. FALL SUNDOWN SCRAMBLE
Glenview National 9 Golf Club
Night time is just the right time to join your friends and family for the most fun you can legally have on a golf course after dark! Our Fall "Glow-in-the-Dark" night golf outing takes place Friday, September 11. Food and beverages (alcohol not included) will be served beginning at 6:30 pm with an anticipated shotgun start at 7:30 pm. Cost is $145/foursome (please no individual sign-ups, threesomes are acceptable but cost remains the same). Sign up at the National 9 Clubhouse. Call (847) 657-1637 for more information. 12th Annual Rotary Run for Glenview
Sunday, September 20
This year marks the 12th annual Rotary Run for Glenview, the annual community event and fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise. This year's event will again feature 10K, 5K, and 1 mile races and a 1 mile family fun-run and walk. This year there will be live entertainment and emcee with prizes, food, and refreshments. There will be plenty of free parking and bathrooms nearby. Click here for registration information & entry fees.
