Janie Spahr judged "innocent"Here is a Chicago Tribune article about the outcome of Janie's case in the Presbyterian Church courts. Janie was a special guest last summer at Wicker Park Grace. She shared with us her story and many of us were very moved by her testimony and her committment to autheniticity and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Read the Tribune article here. The church court said she was not guilty of marrying gay people because gay "marriage" does not exist. An interesting legal argument that we can discuss with each other in person. Nanette is still " Blogging Toward Sunday" at the Christian Century blog for six weeks... This week's blog entry: Cloud Rider(A story of mythic proportions.) Last week's: A Majestic, Intimate God(The "elephant in the room" is too big for any of us to see clearly...) Week 1: How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways(Is Jesus "the only way"?)
