Owen Roe - Cult Wines
2010/2009 Releases
Greetings!

If you are new to Owen Roe and are looking for their most cult-classic wines, these are it!  If you are familiar with ORoe, you won't be disappointed!  They are only into the 3rd bottling of the Chapel Block Syrah and it has quickly become their most sought after wine each year. But the Ex Umbris is one of my favorites (and the critics' favorites) and the Cab Franc is not only incredibly aromatic, it is full-bodied, rich, and beyond compare with other Cab Francs - and much more affordable. If you're going to splurge a little as winter is over and we enter the barbeque season, try these. With these wines, there is a two-bottle minimum. If you want one of each, there is a special package price of $100.00, regularly price at $125.00

2010 Syrah, Chapel Block, Red Willow Vineyard- $48/ bottle (reg. $55)

This 3rd edition of Owen Roe's Chapel Block Syrah is holding its own after two memorable vintages and shows magnificent qualities for cellaring long-term. Only 35 cases of this wine remain and they will sell out of this wine by the end of the month. Flavors of cranberry, pomegranate and cherry are enhanced with layers of ash, blueberry and black pepper, which lead to supple tannins and a trace of chocolate, blackberry and coffee. After several highly acclaimed vintages of this limited production Syrah, they are very pleased to release yet another beautiful wine from the Red Willow Vineyard! Enjoy now through 2020+. Previous press for the Chapel Block Syrah includes a 97 point score in 2008 and 93 points in 2009 from the Wine Spectator!

2010 Syrah, Ex Umbris- $23/ bottle (reg. $28)

Following the success of the well-received 2009 vintage of this wine, receiving 93 points from Wine Spectator and named #25 on their Top 100 list, I am happy to tell you about the latest edition of this remarkable Syrah. This wine was introduced as a one-time bottling in 2002 after a wild fire struck the vineyard's surrounding hillsides. The residual ash and smoke resonated in the Syrah grapes, creating a very memorable wine. Year after year, Owen Roe is asked to develop a Syrah to keep the story of this wine alive! Now, 9 vintages later, I hope you will enjoy this bold Syrah comprised from several exceptional vineyards in the Columbia Valley.

2009 Cabernet Franc, Rosa Mystica- $36/ bottle (reg. $42)

Representing the warm 2009 vintage, this deep ruby colored Cabernet Franc brings out some of the best flavors from some of Owen Roe's favorite Yakima Valley vineyards. The 2009 Rosa Mystica has lovely aromas of sweet chocolate and cherry liqueur, violet and forest floor. The immediate mouth feel is full and rich with spicy flavors of coffee, pepper and tobacco. Enjoy this full bodied Cabernet Franc for many years to come!

And I do have to tell you that the 2010 Sharecropper's Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon have been released. These are "Tuesday" night as well as "Company" night reds. 2010 was a great vintage and these two wines express the varietal without disappointment. The Pinot Noir is $18 and the Cab Sauv is $14.00.

I'm heading out on vacation March 24 so if you'd like to see any of these wines on your doorstep before then, please give me a call Monday or Tuesday; otherwise, it will be April 5 or 6 before I can get them to you.

Cheers!
