So, one of the perks of this business is getting word when things change in wine availability. One of my "go-to" distributors is closing and has to liquidate a rather large inventory of wine. 2007 Clayhouse Petite Sirah: This Petite Sirah comes from some of the oldest plantings in Paso Robles. The wine has a solid tannin core, white pepper, plum and blackberry pie aromas, with a hint of cranberry. This yummy wine imparts a touch of floral spice. Elegant yet rich, this Petite has chewy mouthfeel and finishes with cleansing, fine-grain tannins. It should improve in the bottle through at least 2014-2015. $12.00/bottle
2006 Bernard Machado Pinot Noir: Clear ruby in color, nose is very elegant with notes of Bing cherry, pomegranate and violets. Palate pops with juicy red berry fruits, toasted baking spice, pomegranate and hints of white pepper leading to a long, lingering ginish. $22.00/bottle
2008 Amancaya Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon: 91 pts from Stephen Tanzer, this deep crimson red wine displays a nose of red and dark fruit with red currants and plums. The bouquet fills out with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha. Fine, mellow tannins--very pleasant soft mouth feel. $13.00/bottle
2008 Ash Hollow Headless Red blend: Aromatics of dark raspberry and crimson cherry ooze out of the glass, whispering hints of earth and spice. An ever so ghostly presence of a light, toasty oak originates before the dark, black cherry and plum flavors devilishly dominate the palate. $15.00/bottle
2008 Brusco dei Barbi Sangiovese: Brilliant and lively ruby red with a fresh bouquet with fruity and flowery perfume with hintsof raspberry, cherry and earthy spice. The smooth tannins create a full integration between acidity and freshness. Very pleasant lingering fruity finish. A versatile wine, complementing chicken and lighter meats, salami, pasta with ragu or spicy sauces, fresh cheeses and classic pizza. $12.00
2008 Capannacce Sangiovese: The nose is deep and brooding with scents of macerated cherries and soft mocha to lure you in. On the palate you'll find this red to be smooth and round but still totally dense and rich as it displays notes of black currants, roasted plums, and a rustic pop of humble earth. The long lean finish is perfect for food with crisp clean acidity and a modest dose of sweet tannins. $14.00/bottle
