I had to share the good news with you -- the distributor who handles the For a Song line of wines has issued post off (sale) pricing for the Cabernet Sauvignon that three of my wine club members purchased last summer, and I had the pleasure of tasting myself. 2008 Chardonnay - stainless steel fermented Chardonnay harvested from the Snipes Mountain AVA in Washington. Aromas of kaffir lime, orange peel and mission fig burst from the glass. On the palate, citrus flavors continue along with savory notes of lavender and thyme, dressed in a sheer robe of mineral and lively acidity. 2008 "The Score" Merlot - lush, concentrated perfume of wild plum, blackberry and rhubarb. On the palate, the concentrated fruit flavors are married with secondary flavors of espresso, cocoa dust and leather. 80% Merlot (power and performance), 10% Syrah (fruit and spice) and 10% Cabernet Franc (savory notes and structure) $11.50 bottle
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon - Most of the fruit for this Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from a site on the Wahluke Slope, just outside the Yakima Valley AVA in the state of Washington. Long hot days in this High Dessert area allow fruit to ripen fully while cool evening temperatures help retain excellent acidity. From this balanced fruit they have created a rich, complex Cabernet with big flavors and gentle tannins. A beautiful nose ripe with dark cherries, black currants, tanned leather and dark chocolate gives way to a long finish that lingers with the essence of licorice, olives and clove. Remember, if you are a wine club member, any wine you order in excess of your quarterly wine shipments will be discounted an additional 5% because of your membership in the wine club! This might even be a good time to join - any holiday wine you order would be eligible for this extra 5% discount and the wine would be delivered the week of December 12.
