2009 Broadley Vineyards W. Valley Pinot Noir. $14.50/bottle. Dark opaque, unfiltered -- the aromas are of black raspberry and spice. Flavors are juicy with big, black fruit. Blackberry with a bit of black cherry are refreshing with racy acidity. This wine is age worthy for 2-5 years.
2008 Brooks Wine Amycas "White Blend." $13.00/bottle. Aromas of ripe peaches, lime, white flowers, citrus fruits, clover honey and ripe cavaillon melons. With air, apricots, tangerines, wet stones, cinnamon and clove notes, nectarines and hints of fresh hay add to the complexity. rich texture and great focus. intriguing blend of honey and minerals with a broad mid-palate is broad and rich, with good texture and presence.
2007 Christopher Michael Syrah "Paso Robles." $9.50/bottle. Medium to full body, and the rich round flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum, bell pepper, black pepper, clove, licorice, dark chocolate and smoked meat. Yum! Perfect barbeque wine!
2006 Dominio IV "Song of an Uncaged Bird" Syrah. $19.00/bottle. The garden gate has been left open, yet no one is around. Secret places call you to come in. All around you flowers heave the sun downward. Soon you are at a table in the midst of a magnificent garden. On the table is a cage, inside a yellow bird. Before you know why, you pull the pin. The door swings open, and your heart flies free and perches in a nearby tree. The bird's song is purity...and the gift of intent.
2009 J.K. Carriere Provocateur Pinot Noir. $20.00/bottle. The translucent garnet color gives way to a reserved nose of cherry, boysenberry and blond spice. The palate is fairly balanced between ripe dark plum and refreshing red raspberry: a full and easy start leads to cherry chutney, grilled steak and bay leaf before finishing on rhubarb pie, light smoke and red cherry pit.
2005 NW Wine Cellars Chardonnay. $10.00/bottle. Medium to full bodied wine with a light and lively acidity. Creamy lemon, vanilla, and apple flavors all around that create a very refreshing drink that works well alone as well as with food.
2009 Bodegas Ochoa Navarra Tempranillo Tinto. $11.00/bottle. Smooth and sily on entry with lots of bright acis and soft tannins supporting rich, juicy fruit with intense dark raspberry/blueberry fruit.
2010 Loimer Riesling. $25.00/bottle. Straw yellow in color. Refreshing aromas of lemon zest, apricot and notes of green apple. Delicate fruity juiciness and attractive acidity which gives the wine great finesse and lightness.
2008 Monmousseau Vouvray. $12.00/bottle. Nose and mouth seduced by sweet apple aromas which then goes to lime. Remarkable balance between a tender and very aromatic structure. Vibrant and fresh! |
