A to Z Wineworks Night and Day Red - dark garnet in color with aromas of sun-ripened mixed berries, cherries and plums which deepen to graphite, truffle, spices, tobacco, oak and cassis. The wine is juicy, generous and honest in the mouth with lovely sweet fruit given shape and backbone by a strong ripe tannic structure. ($14.75)
L'Ecole No. 41 Recess Red - A fun, drink-me now table wine with dark fruit aromas of cherry, plum, and spice. The earthy tobacco flavors and nice tannins of this great food wine will have you reaching for a second glass. ($17.00)
2006 DiStefano Meritage - Notes of black berries, black cherries, raspberry and cassis mingle with dense chocolate, cedar and vanilla. A hint of toasted almonds and dried prunes are layered with traces of cracked pepper and spice. 2009 Hahn Meritage Red Wine, Central Coast ($15.50) - 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot. Dark and seductive in the glass. Pronounced blackberry and blueberry on the nose mingle with cedar spice and a hint of wood, while notes of bramble fruit, cherry, vanilla and dried herbs please the palate. This wine consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with generous portions of Malbec and Petite Verdot to add depth to the tannic profile and color, and to enhance richness midpalate. Cabernet Franc and Merlot also are in the blend.

2007 Simi Cabernet Sauvignon ($35.00/bottle) - 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Tannat. Deep, dark and nearly opaque with aromas of chocolate laced with cinnamon, blackberry, plum, black cherry and exotic wood spice. On the palate, a velvety entry is followed by concentrated black cherry and red plum fruit accented with toffee. It finishes with a hint of roasted coffee with a long finish.
2007 Marietta Cellars Petite Sirah ($17.50/bottle) Alexander Valley - Excellent integration of fruit, richness, and heft while maintaning great balance and structure. The nose is full of deep aromas of blueberries, chocolate, tar, oak, and earth with lighter layers of lavender, herbs de provence, and minerals. The mouthfeel continues with the rich fruit and is very structured, lush, and big with a long and well balanced acid and tannin finish.
2006 Stonestreet Red Blend 5thRidge ($29.50/bottle)- Dark ruby-purple in color, this wine offers subtle layers of spicy black fruit surrounded by notes of chocolate and coffee. The palate flavors are both savory (espresso/walnut) and fruit driven (pomegranate/cherries) while the tannins are firm, smooth and round. 93 pts Robert Parker
2008 Stag's Leap Red Hands of Time ($29.50/bottle) - Aromas of red berry parfait with accent notes of freshly shaved nutmeg and dusty cocoa. Ther vibrant, juicy flavors of red cherry, raspberry, and strawberry mingle with warm vanilla and a lingering spice note. 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 3% Syrah.
2006 Hall Napa Valley Merlot ($30.50/bottle) - Expect an alluring nose of bing cherry, violets, cocoa and baking spice which leads seamlessly on the palate to a rich and elegant mid-palate. Expressive flavors of dark cherry, toasted oak and blackberry jam.
2007 Delille Doyenne Syrah ($25.20/bottle) - The 2007 Syrah contains 2% Viognier to "soften" the edges. Purple-colored, it displays an alluring bouquet of bacon, game, incense, blueberry, and plum. Rich, layered, and loaded; this lengthy effort is for hedonists only!
And now to a couple of yummy ports:
NV Marietta Cellar Port ($25.25/750 ml)- This port is periodically released in limited quantities in a non-vintage fashion designated by lot numbers, so as to allow for a highly consistent product. Lot 3 is a limited production blend of Touriga, Souzao, and Zinfandel. Aged in new and seasoned French Oak, it is not as sweet as traditional Portuguese styles, although it unquestionably has an emphasis on ripe, rich fruit complemented by a hint of vanilla and oak.
2007 Abacela Port ($25.00/375 ml) - Their dessert style wine was crafted from five traditional Douro wine grapes grown on our estate. This opaque wine has aromas of dried figs, blackberries, raisins, plums, cocoa, and exotic spice. Fine grained tannins create rich texture and a lengthy finish.
