Summer 2010 Releases!
Dear Wine Enthusiast!
 
Just received word yesterday of a couple of Owen Roe Summer Release wines.  For those of us totally smitten with the wines from David O'Reilly, this is a day we've been waiting for.  The earlier vintage of these wines have been sold out for some time so adding a few of these to your cellar now, would be a terrific idea!  You'll notice that these wines are priced the same as last year....and that is good news given the state of the economy.  As in past vintages, the grapes continue to be sourced from excellent vineyard sites in the Yakima and Columbia Valley areas.  Each of these wines have shown itself to be outstanding as it aged in the barrel, so on release they are ready to pour!  These are exceptional wines made with care and to precise standards under the leadership of David O'Reilly. 
 
I am also very excited to let you know that Owen Roe's 2008 Kilmore Pinot Noir received a score of 93 pts from Wine Spectator!  Now that the word is out to the public - not only in Oregon but around the country - this Pinot Noir is likely not to last through the end of the month.  You'll want to have a couple bottles of this special wine to share with friends and family.
 
By the way - starting August 1, 2010, you will have the option of using your debit or credit card to pay for your wine.  This is very exciting for me, and I hope you will be pleased with this news as well.   In order to provide you with this convenient payment option and to keep my prices as low as possible, I will need to add a $1 service fee to your order should you choose to pay with a credit or debit card.  For all orders over $50, this fee will be waived.

 2009 ABBOT'S TABLE - Red Blend
Always a favorite and always a little different because of the selection of grape varietals and their proportionate contribution to the wine each year.  With long warm days in 2009 the fruit developed fabulous ripe, deep, and rich flavors.  Very balanced and smooth.  Generous ripe flavors of bold red and black fruit, plums, and dark cherries.  There is a hint of spice and white pepper to give the finish a lasting lift.  This year's Abbot's Table was aged 6 months in 17% new French oak.  Zinfandel (25%), Sangiovese (20%), Cab Sauv (20%) and Syrah (10%) make up the majority of grape selections with a little Grenache, Glaufrankish(!), Cab Franc, Malbec, and Merlot - just to tease your palate!

2008 YAKIMA VALLEY RED
This red blend is designed to showcase the world-class Merlot (33%)and Cab Franc (31%) grapes of the Yakima Valley.  The growing conditions from the cooler western end of the region produce lush aromatic grapes with perfect balance.  The bright berry Merlot and fragrant notes of the Cab Franc are framed by the structure and acidity of the Cab Sauv (36%), creating a wonderful mouth filling and deeply aromatic wine.  Polished and generous, with a beautifully focused cherry and plum fruit at the core.  This is a superlative vintage of this special wine.   It spent 16 months on 34% new French Oak.

2008 KILMORE PINOT NOIR - 93 pts Wine Spectator
This exceptional Pinot Noir is a blend of Pommard, Wadensvil, and Dijon clone from vineyard sites in the Yamhill-Carlton District.  The 2008 Kilmore is lush with rich, fragrant violet perfume and black fruit with coffee notes on the palate.  It spent 11 months on 38% new French oak so the wine is not overly oaked or tannic.  A beautiful Pinot Noir.

2008 EX UMBRIS SYRAH 
Ex Umbris is Latin for "out of the shadows" and creates a perfect image of the 7 vineyard sites in Yakima and Columbia Valleys which produced this perfect syrah.  The warmer temperatures of the 2008 vintage yielded beautifully ripe, rich fruit, exhibiting all the fragrance, texture and deep plum characteristics of a Great Syrah.
