More New Releases and Fun Wines to Try! |
Time is marching along - Summer Solstice is a mere 3 days away! And, yet, some days it feels more like January than June! But, alas, it's all good in the vineyards. This week I continue to feature new releases as well as some fun wines to try. Word is that Rose' is making a comeback - mainly because the days of White Zinfandel are over (too sweet!) and the true taste of Rose' is alive and well. Summer is often too warm to enjoy red wine (with the exception of a big juicy steak!) so Rose' is the perfect middle ground. And I have recommended two yummies below.
This week if you order 3 or more bottles, I'll include, as a free gift, a handy, dandy pocket wine journal. Nothing like getting home after a day of wine tasting and not remembering the fine details of each wine you've sampled. Besides, it's always fun to look back and re-live a memorable winery experience with family or friends. Quantity is limited, though, so place your order soon.
And starting today, I'm excited to provide you with a way to purchase these great wines by adding PayPal as an option so you can pay with your debit card, credit card or direct from your bank, if it's more convenient. One little bug I'm trying to work out is that presently PayPal doesn't offer a "shopping cart" mechanism, meaning you can't keep adding bottles to your shopping cart and only pay once with PayPal. Rather, you need to place a separate PayPal order for each varietal you purchase. I am working with PayPal to see if we can create a work around for this but in the meantime, if you want to pay through PayPal, just know that you will need to create a new PayPal order for each wine you choose. Or there is always the "personal" way by calling me (503-310-4576) or e-mailing me at Custom Wine Marketing. If you have any special order for wine that is not offered in this Alert!, I would love to find it for you. I will be placing this order Tuesday, June 23rd for delivery by the end of the week or early the following week. Don't delay!

2008 O'REILLY'S Chardonnay
Lovely nose and great fruit flavor, starting with aromas of butterscotch and toasted nuts followed by flavors of honeydew, toasted nuts, and pear. Add a bit of tropical mango, pineapple and passinfruit and you have a summer wine twine that will impress the most discerning palatte. $11.50/bottle
2008 O'REILLY'S Pinot Gris - Oregon
Vibrant minerality and ripe, white grapefruit explode in the mouth and follow through with a very clean and refreshing finish. The wine is made from Casablanca Vineyard fruit and balances floral and stone fruit scents and flavors with clean, German-style minerality and a clean, crisp finish. $11.50/bottle
2007 SHARECROPPER'S Cabernet Sauvignon
With an oversupply of grapes, Owen Roe decided to put some of their excess first-rate fruit into neutral barrels and essentially split the profits with the vineyards. Most of the fruit for the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Dr. Steve Elerding's Six Prong Vineyard in Alderdale, Washington. Plush and forward with fresh berry notes, this wine promises excellent cellaring potential. $16.50/bottle
2007 OWEN ROE SYRAH - Ex Umbris
The Syrah for this wine comes from several vineyard sites -- Slide Mountain Vineyard and Red Willow Vineyard, both located in warm western Yakima Valley -- and cooler vineyards sites of LewisVineyard in The Dalles, and the unctuous fruitiness of Elerding vineyard located in Alderdale, WA. The current vintage exhibits all the fragrance, texture, and deep plum/gamey characteristics of great Syrah. $19.00/bottle
2007 OWEN ROE "Corvidae" ROOK
Corvidae's "Rook" blended red wine is a crowd-pleaser. It's a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah from three distinctly different vineyards. A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, and 8% Merlot, this ripe and rich wine exhibits juicy loganberry, cassis, and a base note of black plum and cherry. Syrah adds richness, and Merlot smooths the velvet finish. $12.00/bottle
In glass it's the pale silvery pink of Champagne lingerie. The nose screams citrus and musk in the manner of flowering lime trees. On the palate the surprising and lip-tingling acidity of mouth-watering sherbet is pulled by a harnessed team of lemons and limes for a cool eternity into your warm summer night. $19.00/bottle
2008 PENNER-ASH "Roseo" - Rose' of Pinot Noir
Aromas of red raspberry, cherry fruit and spice. Full, round palate of pomegranate. Refined tannins with lightly toasted oak. Lingering finish. $16.00/bottle
2004 SOTER VINEYARDS - Brut Rose' Sparkling
And lest, we overlook our friends who love sparkling, here is one with a beautiful pale pink color in the glass and wonderfully fine bubbles. The wine has a spicy, blossom - laden complexity on the nose. Honey, suggestions of ginger, vanilla, and crème brulee overlay subtler notes of ripe cranberries and strawberries. $16.00/bottle
2006 - KUDOS - Pinot Noir
Fresh and fruity with a floral nose, soft focus and great mouthcoating feel combined with good acidity. Essence of tobacco, anise and earth. Big bang for the buck! $16.00/bottle
