The long awaited day for the release of Owen Roe's Abbot's Table is nearly here.  I have been given advance word that the 2007 Abbot's Table will be released next Thursday, July 17.  This is one of the most sought after red table blends and once again promises to sell out in short order.  This release of Abbot's Table is home to 12 different grape varietals - primarily Sangiovese, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cab Franc.  It is the first red wine Owen Roe makes each year and is carefully blended from small amounts of their finest lots.  It has a fresh fruit expression and a lovely, heady aroma.  Get it now - my price per bottle is $19.50 this year.  

 

I also have an inside track on a wine recently critiqued by Matt Kramer - a 2005 Joseph Drouhin St. Veran Chardonnay.  This chardonnay is harvested from the southern Burgundy district of St. Veran.  Although most St. Verans may be "dull" by some standards, this superb 2005 St. Veran Chardonnay is a wonderful, truly Burgundian chardonnay with discernible minerality, surprisingly dense texture and just the barest hint of oak.  This is not your California chardonnay but rather an exquisite example of French chardonnay.  My price per bottle is $12.00 - that's right $12.00!
