Introducing Belotero Balance

I am very excited to introduce Belotero Balance
I am very happy with the fillers I have been using for the past several years, so I asked "Why would I want to add another?"  And then I tried it...and here is the answer:
Belotero is fantastic for fine lines. Although it is FDA approved for nasolabial folds, as are most other fillers, Belotero can be used in very fine lines such as on the cheeks, around the lips and even in crow's feet--it literally fills a niche that the other fillers just can't "fill". When using other hyaluronic acid fillers for very fine lines, you can often see a bluish tint to the skin. I have not seen that happen with Belotero and have successfully used it on these very superficial types of lines (like the ones in the photo below from the patient brochure).  Call for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Greetings!

Fall is in the air...not really, but these late August days always seem to suggest the autumn that will soon follow. As our Summer winds down and we prepare to get the kids back to school and bring our vacations to conclusion, it is also time to help your skin recover from the summer's effects. You should continue your sunscreen habit on a daily basis, but consider adding an exfoliant to your skin care regimen--topical tretinoin, a Vitalize Peel, a Clear and Brilliant treatment or even an at home Clarisonic treatment. Your skin will feel fresher and more smooth, especially if you are hydrating afterwards with a gentle moisturizer such as Replenish Hydrating Cream.

Read below for our current specials and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
Michelle B. Vessely, MD

Laser Resurfacing
Rose

Many of you may be familiar with this term, but I thought you might enjoy learning more about what it means.
Laser skin resurfacing was introduced in the in the 1980's with the use of the CO2 laser. This was an advancement beyond deep chemical peels, both of which result in new skin growth, collagen stimulation and improvement of the skin with regards to brown sun spots, wrinkles and acne scars. Further refinements and advances came along in the 1990's with the introduction of Erbium lasers, in hopes of reducing downtime and side effects associated with overzealous use of the CO2 lasers. The efficacy with the erbium devices was not as good, and so further developments and innovations led to fractional laser resurfacing in 2004, allowing deeper laser penetration into the skin with less downtime. I was one of the first laser surgeons to introduce fractional resurfacing to Oregon in 2005 with our first Fraxel Restore laser. This laser provides excellent skin resurfacing with minimal risk and downtime. Several improvements and innovations later, this is a fantastic skin resurfacing device. I still felt that the skin tightening seen with the early CO2 lasers could still not be equaled with this laser. So, in late 2007, I brought the first fractional CO2 laser to Oregon in the Fraxel Repair laser. This combines the ablative vaporization of small amounts of skin (leading to skin tightening) with the fractional approach that significantly diminishes risk and down time, as compared with the original CO2 lasers. This is a great approach for those patients with crepey under eye skin or upper lids, deeper facial wrinkles and skin laxity. And, it can be used on the neck, an area that was not safely treated with the older CO2 lasers of the '80s and '90s.
More recently, the trend has been towards less and less downtime, and to accomplish skin improvement for younger patients or those with no option for downtime, we introduced the Clear + Brilliant laser to our practice in 2011. I am pleased to offer a choice of resurfacing laser treatments to meet virtually everyone's resurfacing needs. I can customize the treatment plan to achieve each patient's goals, in keeping with their lifestyle needs and skin type. And with over twenty years of laser experience, I am confident that I can give you good and safe recommendations for your skin if and when you are interested in laser resurfacing.
