"What should I do to improve my facial appearance?"
Often I am asked "What should I do to improve my facial appearance?" Many times, a qualifier is added such as "with no down time" or "without surgery" or "without changing my appearance too much". For many patients , the answer will include some combination of the following procedures:- Laser Resurfacing--this type of treatment improves the skin by stimulating collagen remodeling, targeting sun spots, spider veins, wrinkles and acne scars. A variety of options are available, depending upon the patient's needs, including Clear + Brilliant, Fraxel Restore, Fraxel Repair
- Thermage--this treatment lifts and tightens skin of the face, neck and eyelids by contracting collagen, with no down time.
- Fillers--a variety of fillers may be recommended to add volume in the cheeks, smile lines, lips or other lines and creases. This can be a great way to achieve a more youthful appearance with little downtime. Some of my favorite fillers include , Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse and Restylane.
- Neurotoxins--BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport and XEOMIN are all FDA approved to treat frown lines, but may be used to treat other lines and creases caused by muscles of facial expression such as crow's feet, upper lip lines, forehead lines.
- Sunscreen and other useful skin care products, including tretinoin and hydroquinone. The importance of this is often overlooked, but good skin care is as important to your skin as brushing your teeth is to your dental health. Our physician directed skin care lines include Obagi, Epionce, SkinCeuticals, Vivite and Colorescience.
Each patient is different, with his or her own unique facial features. My goal is to help improve your appearance and skin health in a way that preserves your unique features and helps you look as good as you feel.
