Greetings!
Ahh, the cool, crisp weather of Fall...my favorite season. It inspires me to start thinking about the holidays, sweaters and foods containing pumpkin, not to mention decorating with them. It's also time to remind clients of the deadlines for holiday installations. Call now for an in-home consultation to get your home prepared for those special holiday events or visits with family and friends. Some furniture manufacturer's are offering holiday specials of 10-20%, especially on dining tables and seating.
This is also the time of the year I enjoy Sherwin-Williams' "Colormix" presentation of upcoming color trends. They have researched home trends, fashion and society in general, pulling together not only paint colors but fabrics, materials and the psychology driving our current life-styles. For your color inspiration, I have included the highlights in the article below and a client's example in Before and After.
One great way to update your home is with a new piece of art. I am very excited about the art exhibit of my long-time friend and colleague, Brenda Bogart, at the Tseelana Market this Thursday and Friday. Brenda is a native-Dallas girl, who after careers in interior design and children's clothing (B's T's), is expressing her passion as a joyful artist. Read the article to find out more about her work and the market this weekend, where 50% of the proceeds go to help children in Africa. What a great place to pick up early holiday gifts!
And it all starts with the pumpkins...Enjoy!

Sherwin Williams Colormix 2010
Last week, Sherwin Williams presented their Colormix forecast at the Robert Allen/Beacon Hill showroom in Dallas. The current trends reflect our "deeper desire to get back to basics, to re-evaluate and simplify our complex lives, embracing what's most important to us". This desire for simplicity is expressed in a myriad of ways. Some clients are leaning toward a cleaner, less is more style. To others, it is going back to roots of the past in tribal cultures. Antiques and handcrafted items have more meaning for OTHER clients who appreciate history and rich, worn patinas. As always, elements from nature are appealing to us all.
The collection above is called ROOTED and includes elements from the oldest tribal cultures, mixed together with a new twist. Animal prints and skins, bone, feather and fringe accents, ethnic patterns, hammered finishes and African and Native American influences. "Oceanside", "Rookwood Amber" and "Red Tomato" are just a few of the rich, hues in this group. See the Before and After Dining Room below for an example of what "Red Tomato" can do in a "Rooted" room!
On the right is SIMPLIFIED-Translucent, Sophisticated, Structure. This includes midcentury modern, Scandinavian and Japanese elements. Beautiful shades of "Enigma", "Serious Gray", "Moderate White" and "Butter Up" capture this sophisticated aesthetic.
The TREASURED palette "reflects the beauty of natural aging, mellowing and weathering". It reflects our obsession with flea markets, handcrafted pieces, reusing and repurposing furniture and textiles from the past. The rich colors of "Smoky Blue", "Caribbean Coral", and "Gallery Green" are fabulous shades for backdrops or thrown in as an accent.
REFRESHED is the happy palette of "Animated Coral", "Pickle", "Fun Yellow", "Sapphire" and "Verve Violet". Unexpected color combinations from the 60's and 80's zing in bohemian harmony.

Artisan Lamp
My father has been busy crafting inlay woods into lamps and bowls. Each piece is built of over 250 various woods, that he turns on a lathe, then applies 25-30 coats of finish. Since they are handcrafted, no two pieces are the same. Call or e-mail for more information on these unique accessories.
