Issue # 12                                   www.shelleysoles.ca                               September 2009

 Greetings!Shelley Soles

How did September sneak up on us so quickly?

I did manage a few days away with family, visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake, checking out some wineries and staying at a wonderful B&B.  While I promised myself I'd golf more, yet another summer has gone by with only a few games, as real estate has kept me busy.

I did get a chance though, to watch the pros at the CN Canadian Women's Open this weekend at Priddis Greens - now that was inspiring!!

Wishing you a spectacular September,

Calgary Home Show
The Calgary Home + Interior Design Show  takes place September 17-20 at Stampede Park. Four days to be inspired, informed and  see the coolest new products! I have 40 tickets to give away.  These tickets are valued at $14 each and if you'd like a couple of complimentary tickets, let me know and I'll get them to you.

Did You Know?

You should never drive in the rain with your cruise control on.

If the cruise control is on when your carroad thru windshield begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed, making you take off like an airplane.

Real Estate Update

Home prices in August made the first year-over-year increase on a monthly basis since February 2008.  Check the sidebar for the August statistics.  You may have heard about the sale of the $10.3 million home in Mount Royal earlier this month, and think that impacted the average price.  Even without that sale the average price is higher than a year ago at $446,413!

Single family home prices are up 4% from July and 3% from this time last year when the average price was $440,625.  Definitely headed in the right direction.

Condo prices were down 1% from July and 2% from August 08 when the average price was $287,832.

On the activity side of the business, August is traditionally a slower month for sales, however the number of single family homes sold is up 9% from August 08.
Condo sales increased 28% from the same time.

CREB President Bonnie Wegerich says the recovery in the market has been brisker than first expected and all signs indicate the rebound, all be it gradual, and expects that it will have some longevity.

It's nice to have good news to report.
Until next time...

If you or anyone you know is looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate, I hope you will feel confident passing my name along to them.

My business is growing because of great people like you, and I appreciate that you trust your referrals to me, knowing that they get first-class, personal service and results!
