Full Day Primary Field Trip
Full Day Primary children will be touring the Shedd Aquarium on Wed, May 26.
Bus will begin loading at 9 a.m. and will return by 3 p.m. carpool. Please return signed permission slips no later than Fri, May 21. Chaperone opportunities are available; please indicate your interest on the space indicated. Due to the number of volunteers for this event, not all people who volunteer will be chosen. We appreciate your understanding. |
Elementary Step-Up Day
All elementary placement children are invited to spend a morning work cycle in their new classrooms on Tue, May 25. |
End of Year Classroom Celebrations
End of Year and summer birthday celebrations will be held on Fri, Jun 4. Menus are available here. Please contact the room mom listed in order to donate items for your child's class. |
Manna
Manna will not be offered over the summer months, due to an insufficient number of families interested in participating. Orders for the last manna order of the school year will be due on Mon, May 24, by 3 p.m. carpool. |

Adolescent House Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Families are invited to tour the new facility on Tue, Jun 1, immediately following carpool.
The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the opening of our new Adolescent House will be held at the house at 10:00 a.m. |

End of Year Picnic
 It's hard to believe the annual End of the Year picnic is only weeks away. Mark your calendars for Fri, Jun 4, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Inwood Park, just off the corner of Jefferson and Essington. We are in need of volunteers to help make this an enjoyable evening for everyone. If you are interested in helping, please contact Vicki Hartmann at v_hartmann@yahoo.com by Fri, May 14.
Not able to volunteer? We also are in need of some donations of paper plates, plastic silverware, napkins, plastic cups, and charcoal. |

The Adolescent Environment
This month, we're looking at specific program elements unique to the Montessori Adolescent classroom:
** Faculty and Guest Instructors use a variety of teaching styles and modify assignments and assessment strategies to meet individual student's learning styles and special interests.
** Faculty and Guest Instructors serve as mentors and facilitate the process as their students learn how to observe, listen and read critically, gather information and learn from hands-on experience.
** Faculty and Guest Instructors consciously strive to help their students develop self-esteem, independence, responsibility, compassion, openness to new experiences, patience, self-discipline, acceptance of others, and effective and satisfying social relationships.
