A View of the Montessori Classroom

  "Sensitive Periods"

Children possess natural abilities for learning certain things at certain ages.  These ages or time frames are called "sensitive periods" and the Montessori classroom is designed with this in mind.  All AMI directors have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the sensitive periods of the ages they guide.  Materials are organized to best meet the needs of the children and facilitate their sensitive periods in the classroom environment.
Greetings!
JMS Spring Event

The Spring Event is scheduled for Sat, May 15, at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Theatre, in Joliet.

This year's Spring Event will feature an original adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice in Wonderland, which is currently being written by the JMS adolescent class.

Special musical entertainment will also be featured at the Spring Event. Students studying music in our after-school programs, as well as our primary students, will be invited to participate in this part of the program. More information will be available soon.

Elementary and adolescent students interested in assisting with the JMS spring production are asked to attend an informational meeting on Thu, Jan 28, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Mr. Brandon's room.

All elementary and adolescent students are encouraged to audition for the acting roles and/or to volunteer to assist with the technical aspects of the production, including set design and construction, costumes, stage make-up, lighting and sound.

Students who are interested in working on publicity, promotion and ticket sales, program design, and house management are also invited to attend the meeting.

Auditions for acting roles will be held on Thu, Feb 4, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Mr. Brandon's room.  February and March rehearsals will be on Thursdays at 3:30.  Additional rehearsals will be added during April and May.

Lori Carmine, JMS parent and drama teacher, will be directing the play, and coordinating the production with fellow JMS parent Jamie Benson.

Any parents wishing to help with the production are asked to call Lori at 815-919-4545, Jamie at 815-405-6728 or leave a message with the office.
