JMS News Brief
November 19, 2009

Greetings!

Volunteers Needed!

The JMS P.O.D. Committee needs your help!

We need two moms or dads per classroom to help with a project the students are working on for our next Parent Orientation Dinner.

Each person will need to be able to commit to a 1 hour training session and then 2-4 hours of time working with
the children after school.  These time slots will be separated between the morning and afternoon.

Please let Ann Streitz know if you are interested in helping our children on this very special project.  Her email is astreitz@mac.com or you can call her at
(815) 354-3510.

Thank you!!!

White Elephant Sale '09

Dear Parents,

Miss Francis' class is hosting another White Elephant Sale this year!  You can start donating your goods
today, Thu, Nov 19, 2009.  The sale will actually
be all set up and ready for business on Tue, Dec 1, 2009.
It will continue until Wed, Dec 9, 2009.

We are going to donate some of the money we earn to a charity.  We are also going to donate some of the money to the other classes.  Please, give us your lightly used goods so that we have lots of presents to sell!  (Try not to donate anything that is broken.)

Montessori Philosophy

Human beings develop in relation to their environment.  Dr.  Montessori created materials to match the child's developmental needs.  Many of these materials are specific to a Montessori classroom.  The child uses this prepared environment to select individual activities which correspond to his/her own "sensitive periods" of interest.
