Chamber News from the President
Dear Members:
Did you know that college now costs 3-4 times as much as it did 20 years ago? Take advantage of this month's opportunity to help area college students by attending our annual Scholarship Fundraiser Luncheon at Outback Steakhouse on May 10. For $25, you will enjoy a great lunch while also contributing to a great cause. Salomon Diaz, Proprietor of Outback Steakhouse, generously donates all the proceeds from the luncheon to our scholarship program.
If you would like to contribute further to the scholarship program, we are still looking for full and partial donors to our scholarship fund. We are happy to accept partial donations in any amount or donations for a full scholarship in the amount of $1000. As a donor, you will not only contribute to the success of a promising college student, you will also have the opportunity to spend some time getting to know the student at our "Meet and Greet" on May 16 and our Scholarship Breakfast on June 14. We encourage our student winners to keep in touch with their donors as they progress through their college years.
Members of the Roselle Chamber will join us for an After Hours on May 17 at Jameson's Charhouse from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Enjoy great appetizers, soft drinks and networking with members of the Bloomingdale and Roselle Chambers.

Chamber 30th Anniversary
The Chamber is excited to be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. Every month, we will feature an article from one of our long standing members about the history of the Chamber. We will also post some pictures from past events.
This month, we share the comments from Dr. Kim Perkins of Bloomingdale School District 13. Kim has been a Chamber member since coming to the District in 2003. District 13 has been a member since the mid-1980s.
Kim states "My view of the community went to new heights last year (2011) when the Chamber Scholarship fund went over $20,000 and over 20 youths benefitted. A community can be judged, in part, by how it treats its youth. BCC honored Bloomingdale's brightest and best young talent - and supported their future growth. What a powerful statement that won't be forgotten by the awardees, or their parents. Our youth are our future."

Finance & Fashion Luncheon~May 22 |
Don't miss our third annual Finance & Fashion Luncheon at Shiraz on the Water at Hilton Chicago Indian Lakes Resort. Jane Lambesis, Vice President of Federated Investments, will present "Smart Women, Successful Investing". Fellow BAWIB women will then model fashions by Carson Pirie Scott and JC Penney. We will also present our scholarship winner with a $1000 check. Thank you to Jeannette Adcock of Wintrust Wealth Management for co-sponsoring the luncheon and providing $500 towards the scholarship. Thank you also to Lori Selvaggi of Hilton Chicago Indian Lakes Resort for sponsoring the model's lunches and to Lindsey Leonhardt of Mario Tricoci for providing professional hair styling and make-up applications to the models. Finally, thank you to the scholarship committee for selecting another worthy woman as the scholarship recipient.

Our second annual BAWIB "Bring a Friend" Luncheon was held at Brunch Cafe on April 24. 27 women enjoyed a great lunch and the opportunity to meet and network with fellow business women. We also welcomed 4 new BAWIB members. Cadence Health After Hours Event
Cadence Health, the health system created through the merger of Central DuPage Health and Delnor Community Health System, recently opened a new Central DuPage Hospital rehabilitation clinic at 245 S. Gary Ave. in Bloomingdale. We partnered with the Carol Stream Chamber for a ribbon cutting event on April 10 at the new offices. The clinic offers a full range of physical and occupational therapy services provided by a caring and experienced team led by licensed and certified therapists.
